Here is the Curtiss Seagull you answered the airfoil question about on the other forum. Boy am I glad I found this one the other is so slow it drives me nuts!!!

Its about 1/8 scale with a ws of ~ 58".

I'll do the gear first, and if it flies ok maybe I'll try to build the floats for it.

Anyway, I will use Profili to make the S8037's and redo the wing.

What d'ya think??

It would be a shame to waste all the work that went into the fuselage and tail. I can clearly see why you want to redo the wing. The main spar needs to be angled so that it follows the high point of the S8037. The progressive distortions of the airfoil in the old wing just won't do. You might want to consider extruded polystyrene foam for the tips with a very light glass cloth in epoxy skin to save weight at the wing tips. They would weigh less than half the weight of solid contest balsa tips.

What do you plan to do about the cockpit canopy?

It looks like a grand project and a great way to honor your father.

BTW, the FW190 in the background looks very nice.

As far as the wing tips go, I was either going to build them up or foam is a good answer. My dad came from the old school so to speak, in that he made everything out of balsa. He used to carve about 1/50 static display airplanes out of balsa so he probably felt more comfortable doing the cowl and wing tips that way. I was going to redo the cowl also.
As far as the canopy goes I was going to make a wood mold and pull em over that the forward and rear sliding portions would be simple...And I could make the front glass out of ply and do something similar to this 1/12 MC 200 I built.

The MC 200 is the one I used for practice for fiberglassing and panel/rivets.
