Nice repair, I am still learning how to fly the HBFP, what size sewing needle did you use, they come in alot of different thicknesses.

I have not been able to really fly it yet, I have been practicing in my garage, but I am going to switch to outside on calm days, I am hitting to many walls and it is costing way more than I paid for the heli in parts and shipping.

any advice in flying it, I heard give it a little more power when it starts to go off to one side and correct, I am also putting more time on the sim.

I just bought a Thunder Power Pro Lite 910mAh 7.4V 2S, Having two batteries should help my learn a little faster.

Thanks for the tip with the sewing needle.

ring like pushrod is repairable...

if u have 2 bad ones like broken ring on each end

super glue both of them with good ends 'out' on each let dry

cut the bad ends and now u have a useable ring like pushrod

btw i only use one of those on my HBFP no need to have 2 ring like pushrods at all

also i reinforce the paddle control frame w/c breaks all the time

here's how its done..

That is an AWESOME fix for the paddle control frame, thanks

I have been using small copper wire to replace the ring like push rods. i just stripped the insulation off a piece of wire and use three or four strands and wrapped the around where the rods would go. i left one of the broken push rods on to make sure i got the angle right then wrapped them. it has kept me flying during my wait. and i havnt broken the balls off the rotor head yet, the wire deforms before breaking them. I will be adding pins to my new paddle frame, great idea!

The name fits!! Why are we all doing HBFP stuff when the Compy is where all the ideas come from? I've seen threads for a super Conpy. There must be something to it.

You guys jinked me, now I'm going to have to utilize this repair. I have never broken
the small ball off the control frame until today. What's the odds?

Was there a special tool used to drive the needle through the frame?

Thanks for the tip.

yes there is its called a pin vise....any LHS should have this...if they don''t have them order it for you from their supplier or just order online

this is normally what i do if LHS does not have something that i have...as it SAVES me money on shipping i just pay the item amount..
also another trick is if you need a part/s go to Horizon Hobby website and if you find the item that you want print it w/ price showing and show to LHS and they will sell it to you at that price otherwise if you don''t they will add/mark up the price as they normally do. any way back to the subject !! pin vise
here''s more pics

the last one w/ wood handle is my favorite the middle one i use w/ my cordless drill the firts one also avail at harbor freight and Sears

Pick one up at the LHS or Calif Hobby .. they had some in stock last time I checked.
I got the Testors pin vice.. http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=1173

Since I did the sewing pin mod I haven''t broken the ball...

Kamov... Like the idea about price check (printout) and take it to the LHS... Going to use that idea!

I saw this website posted for upgraded parts, its a aluminum paddle control frame, I do not own one but may get one in the near future.

http://www.xtremecx2.com/servlet/the-Helicopter-Upgrades-cln-Honey-Bee-Fixed-Pitch/Categories

If anyone knows of any more metal upgrades for the HBFP, or any parts that are interchangable from other heli''s please let me know.

Thanks

Something needs to be done with the center hub, it really should be stronger.

Hey RK,
I have a HB FP and The King 2 I can fly the FP no problem but the King2 is so freaking sensitive I have a hard time just holding a hover. How can i use my Futaba 7cap?
I switched out the RX crystal to my 7Cap channel and the heli just freaked out like it was getting glitched bad. Also any idea how to make the heli a lot less sensitive if I can not use my 7cap?
Thanks
Scott

There is a place/person making metal center hubs. There are so many threads on so many forums that it's hard to keep track of where I saw it. There was even a discussion on whether it was CNC machined or cast.
I've recently broken a flybar and have tried a coat hanger. The wire diameter is slightly larger, so, I used a .093" or 42 drill to up the hole size in all of the parts the flybar goes through. I'll have to see how that works out.
If you make all of the top pieces metal, what becomes the weak link? Will it truly become more robust or will we start bending the center shaft?!!
