sure, just get a new gearbox, it is probably stopping the gears from meshing correctly. put in new and that should help you out, i have seen alot of posts about melted plastic and gears on the forum, maybe this needs to be oiled or greased to create less friction, dont understand why its happening, i looked at my truck today and didnt see anything, looks fine, i havent put too much time on it or too much of a beating, i am worried a little about breaking it so i have been beating my Jato. Will work up little by little with the volcano to see what it can handle, i have no patience to wait for parts so dont want to break it yet.

look at the picture and look right around the big gear wheel thats showing.it seems like there was some plastic over that nut that melted off.not sure though,i never payed attention to what it looked like before this all took place.so it seems like that nut was incased
in some of that plastic, and all its doing is just turning inside of that gear wheel.so im going to order a new one.hey dennis hook me up lol.

looks like what melted is called the "differential big gear liner". It the only piece between the gear and the overloading spring mount(metal piece) i dont see it in the book or on the redcat site to buy. You have the volcano right?

Hey guy's,I just replaced this gear and once again it's melted around the nut in the middle.

Anyone one know of a better gear that would replace it?

Ive learned patience, but this is just wrong.Every thing is lined up right.

All gears are going together like they should. It just keeps melting.

Ive ran it no more then 3 hours since I last replaced this same gear.

Any idea's?

Could you send me a pic of what is happening? Nevermind. I saw the last pic. I would tend to think that something is too tight. How are they spinning? Bad bearing? Its hard to tell just by looking at a pic so just giving some idea's.

Hey Dennis, when I got the last one,I didnt tighten anything on it.Far as the purple nut thats on it.

I installed it as was when I recieved it.Everything seems to spin as it should(bearing)and such.

Would you happen to have the bearings that I would need if I would to replace them?

I have already ordered another gear.Something is going on for 2 of them to melt at the same place.

What does that purple nut with the spring behind it do?If it adjust's how much do I adjust.

Thanks Dennis for your help....

If it is too loose, it will slip. I will have to check on the bearings and see what size it calls for unless you did already. I will check tomorrow when i get out to the shop.

change the whole setup, its only like $19, by the time you keep changing gears, paying for shipping you will pay more. plus its probably easier to change the whole thing. Maybe there is a problem with something in your original gear box.

Just replace the gears no need to replace the whole plastic part. The other guys problem was the purple nut was loose.

You also probably need 08013. If you want just send me the money for that in paypal and no shipping and I will ship that out with the other 2 parts. But thats up to you.
