Yep, I spoke with Em today. Johns V2E came in at 10#15.2 oz (I think) with the 10S5000 setup. The fact is that it IS under max if you keep the dust out of it.
Attached as promised are the pics I spoke of yesterday. The prices are listed on the webpage at www.vampowerpro.com. These cells are holding up remarkably well. John abused the 3700ma versions to the max. He flew the pattern with them, landed, and returned 3780 to the packs.Pretty good testament to Vampower.
Now that we have the larger capacitites, he is really looking forward to the increased performance and comfort factor.
Next up are the new linear voltage regs. These are far better than I expected.
I am showing the 8 amp model here. Note the dual harness configuration for twin batteries and receivers...nice. (twin circuits!) The fail safe switch has been added for extra safety. If the switch is not used the reg default is ON. The on board voltage LED's are terrific too. One glance and you can see if you are in a safe voltage run to take off. The 5 amp version is a single circuit setup. These are gonna go fast

I am afraid I have awful news. John's BM is dead. He lost it on takeoff the other day. Details are as follows:
Overcast afternoon on Saturday, clears by 2:00. John prepped the BM with help from Mr. Van Putte for a last minute run before driving to Muncie. Flight #1 was uneventful. 2nd flight wasn't.
After liftoff and about 40' AGL, aircraft lost power and flight control. Airplane was unresponsive and departed resulting in a 45 degree nose in and a total loss. Receiver was damaged so it was unable to be isolated as the culprit. John left for Muncie Sun at dark thirty.
We will do a post mortem on her and see what the heck happened. We will not speculate on the exact cause but it is certainly in the secondary power circuit and or the receiver. The 10S is not damaged and the motor and esc was ok.
When I found out what happened I felt terrible. John and I will work together even harder on the next version so that this cant happen again. redundant, redundant and redundant wil be the build guideline.
Hang in there John.

Jeff
