Well guys I have to say that this is the most amazing plane ever developed for AFPD that I've seen so far. You can really tell when these modelers push themselves to create better and better models. Anyhow the new models are available for download. www.aeroflypro.com/download

Here are the improvments from Pat Libby:

RCUniverse.com Flatout Bipe. Based on the real model by Great Planes. New version for AFPD as follows from the builder: Some changes to the sim model to improve the flight characteristics. Many more hours of detail work into the bipe. After building the real one I couldn't help but see many key details I left out so I made the AFPD better. Also created new graphics to show the Electrifly V Pitch prop on the variable pitch prop version and fixed some of the mesh mapping graphics. These are two whole new models now and I think you'll like um.

Here is video of the V1 version, V2 video will be coming soon or please post your videos if you have them.

Truly an amazing set of planes Pat. I noticed that even the wheels roll. Is there anything else to look out for that's hard to find?

Nice improvements Pat! I hate to be a stickler for details but it looks like your lower wing graphics might be wrong (see attached pic of the real plane)

Rick........
My wings once looked like the model in the picture you attached aswell as your G3 version, with the bottom wing upside down. But I was informed that the bottom wing's instructional graphics were missprinted on the foam sheets. RCUnivers indended the bottom wing to be orianted as my model shows. So I would appreciate it if you wouldn’t insult my attention to detail.

Thanks for the complements STL. The light weight control horns are hard to see while flying

Enjoy

Pat

Wasn't trying to "insult your attention to detail" it's just that every pic I've ever seen of the little foamie has the bottom wing like that (including this one with the founder of Great Planes holding it). I dont have a real one myself and have never seen the plans.

I guess the pic on the actual box it comes in is wrong also?

A whole bunch of PICS of what I am talking about can be seen HERE

I'm just glad you're back to modeling Rick, you really scared me there for while. That was the longest 2 weeks of my life. I thought you meant what you said when you said you were no longer going to model planes for G3. But really glad you didn't and so is everyone else it seems.

Actually Rick is right from his perspective. My RCU Bipe just arived. The box completely shows all that, but the instructions are written, and have the pics to back the AFPD model. So, I guess ya'll are both right or both wrong.

Well Pat's not wrong at all. Great Planes and Rick made the mistake, Pat hit it right first time.

I gotta say, this bipe is AWESOME!!!!

It's alot of fun to fly, physics are truely perfect. If this flies like the real one, ill have to get over my fear of building bipes and get one.

hehe sorry I just had to quote this. Didn't GP help you make the origional AFPD version? If that's so, then you're just as wrong as Rick is. Also, STL, do you have the real plane? If so, then you would know that there really isn't any defined right or wrong to this issue. If you want, I can easily document this fact as I have the plane on the building board right now.

Instead, we could talk about something productive, like: MY ALIERONS WERE SRCEWED UP BY GP!!!!!!! well, almost. The retainer slots on the bottom wing weren't cut and the inside "hinge slot" was cut in the wrong place. It's all fixed now on my model.

To me the orentation stripes on the lower wing seem like they would be on the bottom. Just my 2 cents

Yea, they seem like it, but why would GP use pics of it with the stripes up? They also built it with the stripes down in the manual.

In my book you can orient the wing whichever way "your own personal preference" likes. Whatever looks good to the builder is fine. I'm about to assemble mine so as long as the cuts/slots/aerodynamics/etc make no difference which I'm only guessing they won't it can actually be left up to the builder preference depending how they want that wing to look.

Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I'm VERY thankful to both Rick and Pat for putting in the time and effort to really get the details and physics down on this model for their respective versions they created for AFPD and G3. Thanks to everyone who had input on this too along the way.

My opinion? I love it both ways! I may have to build 2 of these babies!
