Test flew the 109 with a Laser 120 she spent most of the flight at less than half throttle, looks fantastic in the air, ground handling very good using 90 degree YT retracts, I did feel she would benefit from a bit more weight, but she certainly doesnt need the power. I am going to ballast her up a bit, add 8oz of lead, looking forward to the good weather and flying her again.
I took the photo, my son gets his picture taken.

No idea what the rpm was, very rarely tacho an engine, I will try and remember next weekend, I am using a Master 15x8, overheating no problem at the moment (still cold), the cowl is not tight there is loads of space, in some ways to much, a tighter cowl more controlled air flow over the engine. I didn't shim the retracts, I had listened to a few comments regarding taxing so I left as standard, its not difficult to shim if necessary.

As for the spinner problem, i talked to Andy Kondor on the phone today for about 20 minutes about the spinner, and other things. He wants to correct the spinner issue. He said to E-mail him about the problem, engine used, excetera and the problem comes from prototype testing with the RCV 91 as i suspercted. He said it will be easier and Quicker to get the Chinese Spinner Manufacturer to change the design for larger engines if anyone with this problem send him an E-mail with a picture or to and describe the problem and Engine Make and Size. His E-mail is Akondor@shaw.ca. Nice guy, good conversation on the phone

HI Everyone:

I have sent some e-mails to the factory about the issue raised regarding the fit of the spinner on engines such as the 1.20 and larger units. We may solve this two different ways. First we may have them make a spinner with a slighly "shallower" recess in the spinner and will be labelled specially for 1.20 -1.50 fs engines. Also I will talk to Ric at Tru-Turn about a 4.5 inch 3 bladed custom spinner for the Model.

I will post any updates as soon as I hear back.

Cheers ,

Refreshing to hear a distributor support his customer base with a good faith effort to improve product and customer satisfaction.

CMP could learn alot from you folks.

I'll be ordering my 109 shortly. When will the next shipment be in?

Ok, Nobody say you can't do that, heck I made the model of the Spruce Goose fly as an electric model for the movie "the Aviator". I will be sticking a 5330 series AXI in this ME 109 that will swing a 18/12 prop. I use this combonation on a 15 pound Top Flight P-47 and it cooks with more than enough power. I think this ARF will be a great conversion. OK for the guy who said why is he doing it electric. Thanks to our wonderfull city here in orange county California we can't fly gas unless you want to drive an hour. So over the last 5 years I have converted many gas planes to electric power. Do what ya gota do. Thanks to all the guys here on showing the builds they have started. I wont be on mine for a week or two. I have a 1/5th scale Waco that needs my attention. We are current converting a spit to electric and I am certain the 109 will convert very well as it comes out about 1 1/2lb lighter than the spit.
