The factory specs sais that the engine should run between 250-260. Mine gets to 270 sometimes, It all depends on how your engine runs best. If mine runs at 230, it is too rich and dies on acceleration. That is just my engine. Thanks for the info wideopen.

i would say set it for about 270 or 280. anything much over that would probably be a lean mixture. all engines are different but 257 is not anything to be worried about.

If your getting fuel in the glow plug area of the head and the glow plug is tight, are you sure the glow plug gasket is ok or even there?

your engine sounds to be running correctly. as you hit the throttle, there should be a distinct trail of smoke, as you get to full, it should thin out a little. id say as long as your engine is running consistantly without faultering or bogging you should be fine!

i dont have much space to run it at my house so im always on the gas then off. could that be a reason why i over heat??

no, at least it shouldnt be. racing involves the same thing of always getting on and off the gas. i dont know if youve said this, but does the engine actually quit at the end of the tank? or does it just reach the 257 degrees that you set the failsafe to?

it just reaches 257 and then i cant move until the engine cools down. but i think i got it figured out. the reason it would over heat so fast is because the temp. probe loop was to close to the exhaust pipe. i just ran it a little while ago with the probe loop turned away from the exhaust and it never went over 230 degrees. i just have to get the shift point right. then ill be good to go.

thanks for the info
