Dang what a day....... I stripped all but 6 teeth off 2nd gear...Everything else looks great but 2nd looks like a bearing now. Does anyone know if there are metal gears to replace them both? All the other gears are metal but 1st and 2nd are plastic. Any suggestions??

Don't base all your decisions on temperature. As long as the engine is making the correct sound and you still get a nice stream of blue smoke when you get on the throttle you are probably well within good running conditions. I would really only be concerned if your engine started going towards 280-300, then I would start to look for things such as air leaks.

i'll tune it by ear, and even with a nice smoke trail, i'll bring it in to check the temp and it'll be climbing past 280. but if i have it tuned to run around 230-245, it runs too rich and won't rev up like it should, or is slow to do so. so that's why i was wondering what plug you guys were using. i can't remember what i put in it last time, so i was just going to buy a fresh one, and i'm out of fuel, so mabye i'll try going to a race fuel, and hopefully the temps will be lower. even the low end likes to run fat.

Does anyone happen to have the part #s of the LST pipes that people are running on there MGT 4.60 SEs and do I need a new header to make them fit?

Go ebay and get the lst2 pipe off of there.
Cheapest way and comes with a header to make a fit.
And doc better not post that darn pic.

Thanks, but I would like to have a replacement pipe that uses the stock mounting position not the side mount. Do they make a better pipe that would still use the stock mount? I really just want a better sounding pipe, the performance isn't that bad considering the truck's size.

LST1 pipe with the Muggy exhaust manifold

Again thanks, I ordered both yesterday morning. Will there be any noticable increase in performance with this setup or better sound or both? I think the pipe that came with the truck is just way to high pitched sounding.

its a alot smoother sound, u dont get that brap brap sound from the stock pipe, it also is alot quieter, which is good.

Also u get a rather good increase in power

i believe the new MGT 8.0 has first and second speed metal gears, s oyou could try getting a hold of just those gears but that truck is pretty new and specific parts are hard to find so your best it just getting a stock plastic 2nd speed gear unless you wanna drop $125 bucks on the 8.0 tranny.

Thanks, all I could find was a set of plastics for about 15-16 dollars. As for the whole tranny the 8.0 is cheaper than the 4.6 go figure. At least through tower..But still well over $100..

I had my mgt for about a year now only about 3 gallons through it, but I have had no signs of any gears stripping anywhere. Although added the FOC kit almost immediately, I dunno if that makes a difference or not.

A year and 3 gallons??? LOL!!! I must be an overachiever...A gallon in 2 1/2 weeks.. It was kinda strange All gears are flawless but 2nd was trashed.. It probably do to running on road I guess. No signs of problems till I ran it on road. Could that be it????
