My new MGT arrived this evening. I have to say this thing looks awesome. It's actually my Daughter's truck, a replacement for the WARTHEAD.

I went over this thing with a fine tooth comb and couldn't find anything that needed attention. No loose bolts, screws, etc. Everything that needed loc-tite already had it on there. I was truly impressed. After I installed a few necessary items (fuel filter, Venom failsafe and RX pack), I filled it up and hit it with my Dewalt 14.4V drill (I LOVE that part) and it INSTANTLY fired right up and idled perfectly. (TAKE THAT DURATRAX.. )The engine is very responsive and the heat cycle break-in is almost complete.

It went from the box to My backyard in about 1 1/2 hrs. I never knew life could be this good.

I know what you mean. When I get RTRs, I take them completely apart and put them together the right way, but with the MGT I felt like I was wasting my time. It was put together the way I would have put it together. All the screws going into metal already had loctite on them. It is very well built. Before I bought the MGT I was considering the warhead also. Man am I glad I didn't buy that bomb.

The fuel tank actually has a built in "stone type" fuel filter, so a second one isn't actually necessary. Saying that i've replaced the primer bulb with a primer/filter unit...

What is up with Pro-Line Racing these days? Seems like they are doing away with all of the good stuff. I tried to buy 2 Pro-Line 601900 steering kits for my Maxx's and they are no longer in production, but I found them in stock at Stormer Hobbies. Then I'm lookin at maybe a set of Powerstroke shocks for my T Maxx and this MGT and guess what? No longer in production. Parts are still available until stock is depleted and there are several online stores that still have them in stock, but why waste the $$$ on something that you KNOW will be extinct in a short time?

Pro-Line says they killed several product lines due to low sales numbers.

On another note, when Pro-Line killed the Powerstroke shocks, Tamiya killed the TNX Pro, which was going to be my next purchase. W T F are these people thinkin????

Wide Open - I have read this whole thread and I watched your video. It's what made up my mind to order the MGT. (Life after the WARHEAD. )

Bria1 - I remember you saying something about Traxxas Top Fuel having too much oil in it? 10% oil is too much? (Full synthetic, but still 10%) I have a 'negative' opinion of the Warhead now, only because of how easy this MGT went from the box to the grass. The Warhead isn't a BAD truck, but it has quite a few bugs in it straight from the box. Definitely not for a beginner in this hobby, which is EXACTLY who Duratrax is aiming it at. I can tell you that if I would have bought the MGT first and then tried the Warhead, I probably would have shot someone...

Snowblind - I noticed that there was something in the fuel tank and I figured it was an internal filter, but if 1 is good, then 2 is better, right?

well thanks, im glad i helped convince you to get an mgt.
also, the way youre running right now its really three filters. the mgt tank has a filtered pick up at the top and one at the bottom, so that the engine will get fuel even upsidedown. plus it has never even so much as faultered when mine was upsidedown, so i guess it works well!

Thats what i thought... I recently disassembled my in-line filter (first time in about 2 gallons) and it had captured some gunk - so maybe the filter in the tank missed it?

Either way, it didn't find its way into my engine.

Better safe than sorry.

I chased a tune on my T Maxx for about 2 weeks when I very first got it, (bought it used) turned out that the fuel line was split and sucking in dirt as welll as air. Dirt got into the HSN and made my life miserable. Took about 10 minutes to solve the problem, new fuel line and filter, spray out the HSN and life was good. That was about 7 gallons ago. I'm getting ready to completely rebuild my T Maxx now, so the MGT couldn't have come at a better time.

Anyone seen/used THIS yet?

Scott

Oh man, this thing is sweet. Pretty torquey on a rich tune up. Pullin wheelies in the yard at 3/4 throttle. Break in is nearly complete, maybe 2 more sessions and it's time to rip!

The only thing I don't like so far is the tires. They make it kind of 'tippy'. I had to exercise extra care when turning at speed. I see some 40 series in the near future, maybe some Moab's and some Commando beadlocks....mmmmm
