newbs 2.2 clod crawler

1 Attachment(s)
Here is my first ever RC crawler. It uses Tamiya Clodbuster axles and 2.2 tires. I custom made the chassis and fabbed the links, crossbraces, and steering out of 1/4 solid aluminum rod.

I plan on running 2 55t integy motors, 2 Hitec 645MG servos, Tekin Rebel 2 ESC, and the Traxxas TQ3 with rear steer mod.

Here is the build-up thread on www.rccrawler.com if anybody is interested in it.

Looks good. Might want to drop the chassis an inch or so. It will greatly help the CG.

Nice lookin truck. What thickness of lexan did you use on the sides? or is it laexan? Any way it looks VERY nice. Let us know how it does on the rocks.

I'm sorry it took me soo long to reply. I'm not sure what kind of plastic or material it is. I just found a bunch of scrap lying around and decided to use it. It's 1/8in. thick though. Thats why I reinforced it with so much aluminum to make sure it will hold up. If it doesn't, i will make the chassis out of full aluminum.

as for the kit, tlt-1 trucks are pretty good crawlers stock but i think making the crawler is half the fun, look for The_Mini_Giants ride under the mini giant gallery at one18th.com and youll find my crawler, those are about a year old. once i get my mini giant fixed ill post some pics its quite the little crawler nothing stops it.

The All-T's are my favorite on this truck so far. I bought them for my Stampede and hated them. I almost sold them before I decided to build a crawler

RE: newbs 2.2 clod crawler

i thought about picking them up for my truck also since they are the largest 2.2 you can get. I love the mashers but i'm having a heck of a time getting my beadlocks to work with the bead that they have.

RE: newbs 2.2 clod crawler

I decided to just do the outer bead and glue the inner one like normal. I figured I would have to pull them off and I mainly wanted them for looks anyway. I'm gonna add some rings to the All-T's now though.

RE: newbs 2.2 clod crawler

Yea, thats them. They are made by IMEX and they are called All-T's. (2.2 size) so just do a search. My LHS carries them, but I don't know where you can get them online.

I don't know why everybody names thier RC Crawlers, but I finally had to come up with a name for my Rig. "Southern Comfort" What do you guys think about that?

RE: newbs 2.2 clod crawler

hey i got a stupid question:D is there an actual performance reason for the beadlocks or are they just to look real, and if they are what extra performance do they give real crawlers?
