I gave it my best shot, and even bought a Blade CP, because the VNR3D was a bit much for me to hover well. Now the BCP is giving me lots of greif. Aside from just rebuilding it down to the new frame, servos, and blades and other stuff, the tail is now out of control, I think the motor is going out. It will suddenly swing 90 degree's, and then suddenly swing back. I have never owned anything as undependable as these heli's, and I kinda expected them to handle like the heli's on the simulator. Not even close !!! Maybe I will come back to them later, but for now, I give up !!! I don't like things that don't last, and im sick of changing motors on these things. Im sick of Chinese garbage !!! At least my VW Trike never breaks, and I just blew about $600.00 I could have used for chrome and gas. Back to riding for me...

sounds llike just a bit of bad luck..

we all get that from time to time and even the most experienced of us has this some times.if it is more to do with the cost that you are giving up then i can recommend a cheaper heli that acutely fies very well for the price...
i have an esky lama co-rotating blades and think this is a super heli for the price...i also have a hirobo lama (this one is with the umbilical cord ) and that flys great to...and also a walkera lama no5 version 2 but i dont recommend the version 2 ...ive not tried the newest version 4 but am told its much better now...
ohwell...hope we can tempt you to get back into helis again...

As a newbie, I would have went with the Corona. This would have gotten you airborne. Most will suggest a Corona as a beginner heli. The smaller the heli, especially micros, the harder they are to fly and easier to break. The Corona is a proven trainer heli and is capable of some aerobatics. You started out wrong in my opinion. Find a used Corona and give it another whirl. If you need hhelp feel free to keep posting. Lotta people are willing to help. First of all the Corona thread over here dosent move as much. You can find more help over at the RGGroups.com heli forum. Once you get basic flying down you can move on to CP such as with the T-rex or Blade. Most people when they pull their first controlled hover are hooked, theres no turning back.

Dennis,

I live in Chico and if you would like some help with learning I would be more than happy to help you out. Believe me when I say that it is very rewarding once you conquer the heli hobby. It is a blast and not many people have the patience for it. I am the guy who invented the plasti-blade and just for the reason you have expressed frustration with. Stick with it and let me know if you would like me to help you get your blade CP tuned!!! You can call me if you want to set up a time for some help!

You can email me direct from my website:

www.jcshobbies.com

I have been doing RC for 18 plus years and I guarantee I will get you flying. I have taught more people than you could possibly imagine. Let me know!

Sincerely,

John Sparks
Chico, CA

Stick with it!! It will be worth it ....

Well, im doing pretty good actually, but it's hard to justify 2 motors a month between 2 heli's, not to mention crash parts. Also, if the engine dies on one of my planes at 100 feet up, I can simply land deadstick, no big deal... Im riding to Redding to pick up a tail motor for the Blade CP today, but if that one goes out, im not going to keep replacing them every week. I have only been into heli's for a few months, and I havn't got even 1 origional motor in place between the 2 heli's. That tells me that these things are not for me. I hate things that break all the time !!! If an electric motor can't even last a year, it's junk in my book... I run Saito 4 strokes on my planes, and have not even had to replace a glow plug yet, and I been flyin them for over 3 years. Thats why I like 4 strokes. I hate things that break !!! Sparky, thats a great offer, thanks !!! But im doin ok and can hoover whole packs with no problem, but even if I don't crash, motors keep goin out, and I can't accept that. Im just tired of buying parts, waitin for parts, and installing parts. It gets old after a while.... Dennis

You buy cheap you get cheap. Brushed motors don't last forever, that's just the way it is. Especially with smaller motors (such as the tails). If you want something dependable you'll have to go to brushless power. And if you're going to be spending the money on brushless parts, you may aswell just get a better heli to use them in anyways.

Basically, if replacing brushed motors bugs you that much, then you're right, micro electric heli flight might not be for you. Try larger nitros or electrics. They'll cost you a whole lot more, but atleast the only time you'll be replacing things is if you crash .

Now your talkin !!! Thats what I want... Something that you pay for once and get on with learning to fly. I have basic hovering down, so if I just play with these casually, and get back to Trike building (now that my leg is fixed), I can start building up a T Rex or ECO or something of quality. Im gunna hop on the Trike right now, and brave the high winds to Redding and back for a tail motor for the CP. I need to know if the motor is at fault, or the 4 in 1 unit. If it's the 4 in 1, then im not going to repair it. I don't feel that the BCP is worth spending another $50.00 on... I have about $350.00 invested already, and I have to set a limit somewhere.... Im just trying to be realistic.... sometimes your better off to walk away and not look back. I just don't like things that break all the time.

It's more likely your tail motor. They go all the time because they're so small, and usually have more voltage than what they're really capable of having pumped through them.

I fly an eco-8, i've never had to replace anything so far, although I always seem to find something to spend my money on for it (new batteries here, new motor there, hey, it's an addictive hobby! ). Likewise, however, i've got over $1000 invested in it. So you gotta pay to play if you want something decent.

Dennis:
I've been flying a modified LMH 100 into electric from glow, more or less a Corona now, and having a ball with it. As said above, it's a trainer chopper and made to be fixed rather than replace parts. I've bent the aluminum tail boom and put it across my knee and straightened it and continued on flying. Twisted the tail boom around so the rotor was sitting horizontal, twist it around vertical and carry on. This is a fixed pitch, which is fine for learning on. Anyway I bought a Blade CP and it was like taking a step backwards. Just a mild tip over and the mainshaft was bent. Not much better than coathanger wire and not much bigger. Never bent the LMH piano wire shaft which would be easy to make as the gear is setscrewed to the shaft, not molded on. Get a Corona and give her another shot you wouldn't regret it. The frame on the LHM is plywood which would be easy to make if I broke it, even after rolling it up in a ball across the front lawn to many times to count

Thanks !!! I just got back from my ride to Redding, and I have a new tail motor and spare rotor for the BCP. I sure hope it's not the 4 in 1 thats bad, but I have a feeling your right, and it's just the darn motor. While I was at the HS, the owner flew a T rex in the parking lot, and boy was it sweeeeet !!! I hate the idea of messin with LiPo's, but oh well... I am going to order a T Rex soon, and try my luck with it. There goes another $600.00 plus. LOL

You know i think im going to quit too. My helicopters work perfect then i land them nice and smooth then all of a sudden they decide not to work. It is really frustrating when it was working fine then decides not to work.

Thanks for all the help guys.
