Anyone done any experiementing and found any motors that won't work?

Im running a Venom fireball micro 370. I havent had any problem with the motor yet. Ive read it will run real hot so I put on 2 heat sinks. After my upgrade I lost the tail rotor after a piece of nylon string wrapped in the gear and bound up. that was a hand full. It hit a chain link barrier and it was time for a rebuild. After the new tail motor with two heat sinks i bounced the heli off the side of my pick up. then after that repair its still alive. I put on a 9 tooth pinion and i run sym. blades with 1320 lipos. The motors and battery are just warm to the touch. it is however 20 deg outside. i think the gyro in ,my 4n1 is messed up. After the tail rotor loss adjusting the gain is either to much or not enough. Maybe its this tail motor. In hover I can hear its rpm constantly moving up and down. i do like the extra power from the main though. Im now flying loops and rolls but im to afraid to hover upside down. I also had to get new sized screws for the new motor.

If you wanting to do it, you can do the entire mod for about 55 dollars plus another 10 for shipping. I can email a pdf how to on request- and below are the parts you will need.

Motor:

http://www.heli-fever.com/product_info.php?cPath=7&products_id=445

Controller:

http://www.heli-fever.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_14&products_id=369

The use the pinion off your old motor. (use a 10 dollar pinion puller if you dont have one already).

My heli has been modified this way and could not be more pleased with the performance. Then spend all the extra dollars that you would have spent on this mod on some heli parts so you can fly everyday and become an awesome pilot!

I dont know but After i crashed last week my heli's quite not the same. I smashed it up pretty hard after a inverted hover attempt. I flew it today and it sounded like the motor was grinding. After landing I found the gear mesh wasnt set correctly(I just through in a new main gear) It just didnt seam to have the oomph it had. I just set the gear mesh and the moter is definatly getting warmer(no heat sinks, test in the garage) If the weather is still good tommorrow im flying again. Today I did manage to hover inverted close to 30 sec at about 40ft so I had some breathing room.

Megaglow, thanks for the info but I was really trying to stay brushed on this one. But for $55 it's about the same price.

Olds, so the Fireball was a worthwile swap out? Do you think the motor had anything to do with your esc messing up? The Venom is only a 300 sized motor, did you notice any difference in torque? By any chance did you measure rotor rpm after the swap?

I like it. Thier is a obvious increse in power. The motor is thier micr 370p fireball. I just looked on ebay and thier selling for $10, I bought mine local for $15. i did have to adjust the proportional som eto counter it. The motor only bogs at the extream pos or neg pitch. I did reset the gear mesh last night but havent tested it yet. I found the flybar is very loose and I think the main head might be dammaged. I tried to get the rpm but my tach is broke, It keep flashing 036,036 or 000. I did however intionally install it with the wrong screws and once it came loose I had to tap the mount holes for the new ones. I dont know if i dammaged it then or with shavings. Im going to get to work on it and test with a fresh bat. Ill let if its still going. I dont think the esc is messing up, I think its pilot error(crashing) Ill try to get some vid if you want.

My back up and running. I found the main shaft was bent and the slider on the head assembly was cracked. i ran it thismorning in idle up at 0 pitch(center trim and stick, no thrust felt on top or bottem) with a 10.8v nimh 9 cell I have and got it to tach at 2300 to 2500. When it stabilized it was at 2400. I still dont quite know how to use that. the motor was barely warm in the garage but it ran for maybe a minute or two. Im charging my lipos and im going to the park. Im going to try to get some vid aswell. I m sure my 4n1 is working, I had to turn the gain down a hair and aside from a click or two of trim the tail stayed well put.

I tached the heli with my tp 1320 lipo and the number would go 24, 25, and so on. I got some short vids but i still cant get them to post at putfile. IF you want Ill send to email. im going to put on the 3d lightend paddle I have. It was more agile. Im not by any means a accomplished heli pilot but this thing is so fun. I flew it only about 10 min on that battery. I flew my typhoon the rest of the time. My only prob now is the new gear I got last night is warped. The mesh is perfect on one side but the other tightens up.
