George,

There was a company Richwood R/C that did offer the Pica 1/5 YMF but is now gone. They had bad reports of service, incomplete kits and on and on.

T & J Models http://www.tnjmodels.rchomepage.com/tnjwaco45.php Has a 45" 1/8 scale electric and a 30" electric 1/12 scale. You need to get the plans from Flying Models and an article was in the Nov 2010 issue on the 45" version.

Kit Cutters http://www.kitcutters.com/ has a 60" UMF listed but are not taking orders. Suggest you contact them to see what they can do.

Those are the only sources I have found other than Barth and AMR. There is also the Great Planes YMF and the Sig ARE (if still available) ARFs.

John, Thank you for all your time, and info. I guess I'll have to do it the old fashioned way, better get started from what I can see. Ton's of hand cutting.  I'm alergic to ARF"S , Thanks again, George

You're not one of those people who thinks a scale contest is a comparison of one airplane to another are you? So many people do not
understand you are competing with your documentation...and your ability to replicate it...not someone else's model. Too often people
are shocked to learn this...

NO ED, I'm not one of those. I have worked enough at Top Gun and Florida Jet's, to name a few,  as host club  to learn a thing or to.
Who know's maybe someday that bug will hit me.

Thanks Robert, you know always looking. I thought about the lace material for the wings, but with the split stabilizer, I think I need something that will be rigid on the tail.

Your welcome Jim. I was exstatic when Dan offered what he had left, that I used for the tail and the front middle. I'm not crazy about the lace either.  I have found a flat wire called box wire that from the sample's look really pretty good. If I put flying wires on that's probably  what I'll use.The .103 X .028 - We'll see.
If you want to check it out your self, Taconic wire.

George,

The kit is new in box. The wingspan of the 1/6 scale is 60" with a flying weight of 7 1/2 Lbs and the suggested engine range is .45 to .60.

I don't have my camera right now and am out of town on business all week but if you want a picture I can get you one next weekend.

Question.  Has anyone seen this plane and/or have any info on it?
stickbuilder or skylarkmk1, one of you gave me the website to look them up by the numbers. And of course I have lost it. And don't remember which of you to ask, so I ask both. Could you be so kind as to give it again?
THANK YOU!

Robert,

The FAA site allows you to look up the N - Number. http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/defimg.asp

Airport-Data.com lists aircraft by manufacture, then N - number tells the model and where it is located and will show a photo of some aircraft http://www.airport-data.com/manuf/Waco;2.html

Airliners.net is a photo search engine where you input what type of aircraft you want and it will find photos for you. http://www.airliners.net/search/?

Vintage Aircraft Search collection is similar. http://www.russellw.com/photoalbum/photo_query_form.asp

Jim, just got back from the craft store. Actually took a look at some of that lace stuff. I will be using the flat wire.

Thanks, please keep us posted, that stiching wire may be the best solution yet for the smaller scale planes.

Progress!!!
All the covering is done and the first application of Poly-brush is applied. Using Stitts uncertified lightweight glider fabric from F&M.

I had to recover one wing panel. As I walked around my bench to trim a piece of covering, I tripped on my extension cord, lost my balance and sliced about a foot-long slit in the covering with the razor blade Thank goodness I had enough covering material left over.

Amazing how small it is when all the bits and pieces are removed!

Cheers,
Dave.

Thanks, Robert.

Two setbacks have cropped up. We have just lost our flying field, and Hans in Switzerland has sent my flying wires, but we have a nationwide postal strike/lockout happening. Who knows how long that will last! I'll have to think about making some alternate flying wires

I know how you feel, currently waiting on wheel pant's and just ordered some new paint  so will be waiting on that. As you may have noticed I am takeing this time to add scale details I did not plan on doing at the start. So,You have plenty of time with all the detail work. Stitching, pinking tape and whatever else your planning on doing. Don't get in a hurry and try something that in the long run you won't like. There is no time limit on when it has to be done.

UPS is still deliverying as is DHL and others. Do you have friends over the border...aka ala Stateside who would be entrusted to receive
your items for you and forward via UPS to you or you pick up from them???? Just a thought considering the shipping arrangements I am
having to make for Canadian BuyAero.com and FliteMetal.com customers.

To Mogman

We also recently lost our flying field after 35 years. This is happening all over due to urban creep. We have found a new site and have just put down our new runway which is 160 meters long and 10 meters wide. (See image)

Because these things tend to be considered private and most clubs consider it a prideful issue delt with typically by denial it
exists...encroachment is real and something clubs fail to manage and fall victim to.

It is important to make sure your club has a committee with the sole purpose of managing the encroachment of your flying site.
This is a good reason for "not" owning the flying site...leasing provides necessary mobility in encroachment incidents. I encourage
you and your club to investigate public land use. Don't laugh... you would be amased by the amount of public lands which are out
there for your use...with proper approach and management proposals.

These properties belong to:

Federal Land Management.

State Land Management.

Cities.

Counties/Parishes.

It is not difficult to acquire use of these lands. It only requires exercising professional proposal skills to express your clubs skill set
to manage a property better than is currently being exercised. These properties could have had previously been set aside as parks
and recreational areas...suffering budget constraints at all the above levels. Yes, it rolls down hill...

Preparing "written" professional reading and looking proposals and making presentations is key to looking and sounding like you can
do the job better than those who own the property...who ever they are. Tie yourself to your area Economic Development Council at
the hip! Identify the lay of the land, drainage, population, expansion of development, debt due to an inability to pay property taxes,
francise taxes, properties acquired by Feds, State, local law enforcement as a result of criminal activities (See your County Judges).

An Example Of An Initial Presentation

Those are but a few directions you can go to acquire what you seek. I have done this three times. It gets easier all the time and the
land available keeps "growing". Yes, land availability is growing!

Do not let your club sit at another meeting whining about encroachment from anything! Take the subject to your Board Of Directors,
or Cliub Officers...privately requesting an explicit meeting to start the process. Deligate the activity across club members who have
management experience and exprience dealing with people on a daily basis. Find the one club member with the best computer skills
to work with your group to create a web site with which to create a proposal which can be viewed by whom you target for land use.

If you need assistance getting started... you are welcome to contact me via email for examples of how this is done...online.
