Got home to find that my laptop had died a horrible death. The entire operating system has been wiped out. It is old enough to be replaced, and I'm using Janelle's laptop to post this. I'll have a new one by the weekend, and I'll be back on the Universe then.

Stickbuilder. I feel your pain. I am in the same condition; only worse. My desktop died. and had to be replaced. I'm used to Windows XP, and am having to learn Windows 7. My ISP contract expired, and they are no longer servicing individuals, just businesses, so alongwith the switch, my son talked my into hi speed, and new computer peripherals, that require learning, and new e-mail programs; we very reciently got a motor home with hardware that I am not familiar with, and having to learn that; AND; my wife's dog's diebetes has progressed to where it has to have shots twice a day, and of course that always happens just when I am in the middle of something; like just now in the middle of this.

I am wondering if anyone would have the directions for the Barth 33% that is in english, mine are in german and I cannot read german, I use the google translator and the sentences do not make any sense. even though there are excellent ideas here on these sites, I find myself spending hours just studying the prints, and things just don't turn out just right.

thanks Rich

Rich, I have the Barth 33% Waco build instructions in English but he has about 3-4 different versions (up-grades). I think I have No 2 version. Can you post a photo of the construction of the fuselage or at least the parts that go to make it up. You are welcome to a copy of what I have in any case.
regards tmac

Hi all. Im new to this thread and group. I wonder if anyone can help me. I am a prop and set builder in the UK and have to build a full scale non working copy of a Waco twin seat, YMF for a commercial. If anyone can lead me to a copy of a set of plans I would be very thank full.
 Regards Pete

If full scale is what you'd need why not use a real one? If it's a fully scale built model that's another story. I'll sell you mine but for a very dear price. Mitch

Hi tmac,

when I remeber correctly you were one of the last to receive the previous version of the third scale Waco. The current version is completely different as the fuselage is built from light ply instead from the balsa stick construction you have. Unfortunately the translation for the latest version is not completly ready. I am working on it but as you may know I am not a native speaker but I think it would help. I try to have the translationready for the WRAM trade show which I will join end of this month. 1/3 has been already transfered into English. So please be patient its only two more weeks to go. On my flight to New York I hope to do the rest.

Logistics Mitch. The plane has to be customised to suit the clients business and be sat in the garden of a french chateau. And its cheaper for us to make one than to do this to a real one. It s a real size one we are making.

Pete,

Contact the AMA plans service, and order the WACO YMF plan set along with the Templates for parts. You should be able to work with this plan. You will need to enlarge everything, but you can pull it off.

Hello all,

Bottom wing almost finished framing up. The wing tips look good still have some sanding to do. I will build the top wing next and have them both framed up and hold off covering them. I hope to get Bill to give them a good looking over when he is here for Top Gun and make any corrections needed. I sill have to make some sort of bracket to attach the flying wires to on the wing next to the fuselage any thoughts on this let me hear your ideas.

Dan,

From my photos, it appears that the last 2 tip ribs are a little tall on the bottom. I think you need to sand them a little flatter so they don't show as much thru the covering.

P-1 Note the bottom of the UPF wing on the left how it is fairly flat back to the aileron control horn.
P2 – The black bump under W-7 is the firewall from the fuselage in the back ground.

Hi tmac
I purchased my waco from vogelsang here in the states, the fuselage is made from lite ply and 5 pieces, really pretty straight forward.

John,

Thanks for posting the pictures I have sanded more on the wing tips and I think there much better. I covered the last three ribs to get a better idea of how they would look. What do you think?

Hi Peter, several weeks to get to this point. I have had limited time because of work and also the parts list and the instructions that I have are in German, which I cannot read, but with the help of this forum I have done well so far. I am taking my time as I am in no hurry and there are great ideas here on how far I want to go with scale. All the wings info that I have is in German, I did recieve some translated direction for the fuselage and part of the elevator which is where I am now. Very nice Plane and I will post more pictures as I go. It would be a big help to have the english directions or even the parts list in english, not all words translate correctly on the google translator, but I am happy with my work so far.

regards
Rich

Dan,

That is looking really good. I think with a fabric covering with the grain spanwise will help level the dips between the ribs on top. They look about right for the very slight taper to the tip from W6. The bottom looks so much better without the ribs sticking out thru the bottom covering. It is about as close as you are going to get without building the wing with the exact scale structure. As they say - If it looks right, it is right. Good job.

Bill - any comments or opinion?

Hi Rich,

sent me a PM I can send you at least the first 12 pages of my translation which might be a bit more helpful than the google translation. You are invited to provide me suport to brush up the English translation because I am not a native speaker also comments to the instructions where to give more or better explanation is very welcome.

I really do like what Dan has done. I'm more impressed that he has come from someone who was very hesitant about taking on a job of building a fairly complex model that was not in the form of a kit to where he is today. He now takes verbal suggestions and renders them in wood. Dan has proven to everyone (himself included) that he is one of the best builders around today. My hat is off to him and others who take the plunge. On top of that, he is a really nice guy and a humble one too.

John, Bill,

Thanks for all the help you have given me getting the wing tips to this point. The top wing should go much faster now that I know what I’m doing. I’ll place an order for more balsa and get started as soon as it arrives. I hope to have a good set of templates by the time I finish the top wing. It’s been fairly easy to do so far and best of all a lot less sanding.

Dan, wings look great, nice job. those tips look perfect. I have the templates you sent me awhile ago. Not sure if they are the same but I will work with them and sand till I get what you have, a perfect looking scale tip. Thanks  George

I sure hope that shiney stuff is only for testing the contour. It would be blasphemous on a Waco:-))))))))))))))))))))
