I GIVE UP!

Several months ago one of the Brothers posted a comment regarding having stencils made for his trim.  If I remember correctly, he sent the company a set of the kit sticky back decals and they used them to make stencils or vinyl trims and numbers. I think this was for the 1/5 scale kit. I can't find that post and I've been looking for over a half hour!  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Check with MrDHud. Dan had some made for him.

Joe:

I had vinyl decal made from the PICA 1/5 scale kit's decals by Cal-Grafx (http://www.cal-grafx.com).  I suggest you contact them to determine whether they still have the CAD files they created for my decals.

The DLE-30 is a nice little engine I just got it in the mail the other day along with the Bisson wrap around muffler for it. Towards the end of the month I'll be placing my order for the Great Planes Waco this way I get my gasser to fly until I can get around to building the 1/5 scale kit I have and it will be a nitro burner then I'll really get the wife spun up with having two 1/5 scale waco's hanging from the ceiling!! LOL!! I seriously thought about getting the DLE-20 for the GP Waco but I went with what Great Planes had listed. Unless somebody has a better suggestion of which one would be the better of the two engines to use. I'll just have to see what happens once I have the plane in hand.

PM me your email address and I will send you a zip file that that contains dwg drawings that I've used twice for making the stripes and engine blisters out of vinyl. You should be able to find a shop that can scale the drawings to any size.

Contact the AMA Plans department. They offer the 1/5 th scale plan set with our templates. There are plans for the quarter scale version from Jim Pepino, but they are notoriously bad, but it can be built. I'm working on a 27% set that should be on the money.

How are those plans coming along?  When can we expect to be able to get a copy?

Today I checked my idea ... It happened as the original. Of course this is only a trial.

They are coming along slowly. Time is the enemy when you are trying to produce something that is accurate in all respects. I don't want to be remembered as many have for producing a plan that is flawed. There is a Quarter Scale Waco plan out there that has that name. If mine is not correct (a proof model will tell all) then it will never see a copy machine. Relax and enjoy the wait.

We will be patiently waiting for your 27% knowing they will be spot on scale. Will you have to make your cowl and pants as well?
I took your advice and got some minwax water based polycrylic and brushed a coat over the solartex to seal it. Work out great thanks.

You are very welcome Dan. As to the wheel pants and cowl, I'll probably build a mold from the original plug and then lay up my own. I don't know if Fibertech or Fiberglas Specialists would want to offer yet another size set for this plane. I guess time will tell.

Barth 1/3 YMF build moving slowly. Thanks to Chuck L for sending Barth YMF build PDF. According to manual they are now on version 3. I must have version 1. Somewhere they mentioned improved landing gear. Does anybody know if the old ones were weak or should be beefed up?

Thanks and Merry Christmas

Looking Good Mike,
Peter Barth is a member here so maybe he will stop in and answer any questions you have.

I just cracked open the box containing my new fuselage kit and getting ready to start laminating parts to build the fuse. I am really dreading building this thing again. This will be my 3rd Waco fuselage and just can't get excited about it. Maybe once I get the framing out of the way and start the finishing process it will get me motivated.
Later!!
Anthony

Happy New Year wishes to everyone.

When I first started my 1/5 scale project back in the spring, I downloaded a copy of the plans in .pdf format. At that time, they opened perfectly. Now, all I get is a blank .pdf page. Anyone have any clues as to what might be going on?  I have a late version of Adobe Reader.

TIA,.

Joe
