I was referring to the ones that come with the kit. I'm thinking about using roof valley flashing aluminum, and making a buck, and forming the corrugations in the aluminum, and epoxying it into place. Probably time intensive, but it should look more scale like than anything else out there. This aluminum is really light, and easily formed. By the way, I ain't gonna beg you to take a number.

Dang, what's with all the grey????? I'm going to do the H-Stab trim on the next one as well. There will be a slight gap between the Stab and the fuse, but so does the full scale.

Comes from worryin' about my airplanes, I guess. Better it should turn gray than turn loose .

From what I can see, even though the new WACO Classic is built under the same FAA type certificate as the original, there's lots of detail differences. I only have a couple of pics of original WACO's, most all of my YMF stuff is the new version, so I'm going to follow that in my model. There must have been some variants of even the new one; remember I posted a pic showing the rudder with an aerodynamic counterbalance? I found a couple with the straight hinge line, so I don't know for sure how I'll do mine yet. I think the H stab is a pretty doable thing, it sure will look good with that gap like the full scale has. I've got some carbon fiber tubing that will be perfect for that.

Status: offline 		Oh, I forgot about the dummy engine. Here are the pics. There are the cylinders, the front crankcase, and a ring that everything mounts to that has the pushrod tubes on it. The material is a hard plastic/resin. I find the front cover to be too deep, and I have to cut it out anyway for the prop shaft to fit through the hole. I'm hoping that I can mount it on a thin piece of ply and fit it against the Zenoah, with just enough cutout around the #4 and #5 cylinders to allow air to the G-26 cylinder. I will paint the barrels of the cylinders black, but leave the heads silver, and make a wiring loom with spark plug cables.

Status: offline 		Dang!!! I was already planning to do the next one with the counterbalance. Now this.... Naw, I've seen them both ways. I will (I think) add a little meat to the tail surfaces to replicate the tubing of the perimiter. I'm thinking about adding cap stripping to the wing ribs, and extending it over the L.E. sheeting to make it appear that the rib goes to the L.E. Tube. The more I think about the corrugated aileron surfaces, the better I like the idea of using flashing aluminum, and forming it into a buck to make the corrugations.

Status: offline 		I use only the Robart pin type (1/8") be sure to add a little more meat to the surfaces so they can gain some bite. I may give the DuBro pinned hinges a look as well, they would be a little more scale like (maybe) With the Robarts, you can do a small pocket, and they look very well.

I seriously doubt if they will allow that. Who would decide what was worth seeing, and what is not. This forum is kind of loose, and not at all like what you find on RC SCALEBUILDER, where the posts are pretty much sanitary, and therefore somewhat boring. I personally feel that a little lightheartedness is worth reading through here. Not a put down, but who would make these decisions. These guys are somewhat humerous, and quite frankly, I enjoy the bantering. Readers are capable of choosing what is of value to them and what is not. I really hope that I didn't step on your toes with this reply, but that is how I see it. You are welcome to take your position up with the moderators/administrators, but I don't think that they will see it as being nothing but an information thread. It is, after all a gang of guys that like the same airplanes, sitting around sharing information and shooting the bull. Enjoy,

This is a good thread, the only thing that bothers me is some of you guys can't build. Geesh, 2 cylinder, 3 cylinder engines, scale cockpits, flat wire, operating hatches, tail wheel suspensions, scale fuel fill valves, scale ailerons, adjustable scale Interplane struts, genuine Waco aircraft labels, come on guys lets take it up a notch

That data plate is worthless. It has no information on it, so it ain't scale.

Status: offline 		Sorry Ron - Looking through this thread, the majority of my posts aren't on topic - just trying to lighten up the thread with funny stories or joking sarcisms. I'll watch it from now on.

Oh, and I am a Mfg. Engineer too (and tooling machinist) and have scrap metal / plastic etc. by the bucket loads that is perfect for modeling. So if you get overwhelmed with requests for a small hunk of metal or whatever, PM me. As long as it's going to a good cause and someone can't find it or justify spending a lot of money on something we are tossing out anyways.
