Status: offline 		Perhaps you had better take another look. I am sure that you will see that Cox bought up the rights to produce Pica models and it is now being offere in both 1/5 and 1/6 ARF

Status: offline 		I agree with Nightstalker. Your plane is lookin' good. Comparing your structure to how the ARF is put together, I'm thinking that the little doohickeys that hold the wheelpants on are the only things Cox didn't change. Even if the trim adjuster on your H-stab turns out to be less than necessary for flight trimming, the scale detail was worth the effort, as is the two piece H stab. It really looks great.

I have all the sheeting done to the fuse, all that is left is a circular piece around the front edge. I'm going to mask a line around the front of the sheeting, and lay a couple layers of glass and epoxy around the front edge, then remove the tape. This will leave a slight relief, and then I'll sand it smooth. I'll post some pics whenits done. The sheeting looks pretty good, I think.

Most of us in the WACO Brotherhood and on this thread are aware that Cox bought the rights to the Pica YMF and are producing the ARFs and rumor has it, may produce kits. Khodges is redoing a 1/5th Cox/Pica YMF ARF and adding a lot of detail that Cox left out. Stickbuilder and others are building the 1/5th or 1/6th from old Pica kits and/or will be building from "scratch", once all the formers and such are traced, copied and forwarded to those interested in doing so. The basic plans (side and top views as originally supplied by Pica) are available from the AMA and we in the Brotherhood (ie: stickbuilder) and others are trying to complete the plans with the templates of the formers etc. and instructions.

Status: offline 		Well, another windy rainy weekend in Omaha, gives me an excuse to hibernate down in the basement. Got the top wing in Coverite and bottom of the bottom wing also in Coverite. The tail feathers are covered, here are some shots w/o wings.
Ken, understand the "aroma" issue, that is why I gave the Coverite a try. I use the Balsarite, it drys quick, has minimal odor.
The other advantage is that Coverite is fuel proof right off the roll, and it shrinks beatifully with the iron. Still think I'll give the Klass Kote epoxy a try, sounds like good stuff.

Status: offline 		Jim, your build looks great, we're pretty close together in where we are. Your engine installation is slick as heck. I love how the blister locations were perfect for the Saito. I notice that yours is a true YMF cowl with the equal spacing, I'm sure you've discussed that at some point. I guess I'm gonna call mine a UMF when people see it at fly-ins and want to know "what kind of Stearman is that?"

I tried a different tack on the forward edge of the fuse. I cut strips of 1/32 balsa and glued them down around the circumference, butted against the sheeting; I'll sand them to thickness and harden them afterward with thin Ca. It's about 3/4 done, and will give the look I'm after.

Well, I danced with my daughter tonite, did the shag and also a waltz. As she has been dancing since the age of three, and competing for four years, I let her lead . I didn't look quite like a drunk on a swaying ship, but close.

And we think WE can fly:

Please flesh your comments out. I have no idea what point you are trying to make. Cox has given the AMA the plans to the Kit version, and that would lead one to surmise that they have no interest in producing the kit version of the YMF. The ARF version does not resemble the structure of the kit model in form or design. What are you trying to say?

Retired as E-7. (Un)Fortunately, my last unit had just a few junior officers and the top 3 enlisted had to help them out with duty officer rotation so occasionaily we got to use the top floor.

She's looking real good. when you get the 1/64 ply doped will it still have the panel lines?
I got the bottom wing finished this afternoon, that leaves the fuselage, but before I start, think I'll set it up
one more time to make sure the incidence is correct on the wings and stab, just in case I need to tweek anything.
