Jay--That's a great looking avatar you got there. It would make a sharp looking tee shirt, don't you think?

The guy with the 3 trophys is from Brazil (Brasil) he is the builder of the beautiful L-4 Cub. You really need to see this plane for yourself. The word perfect is not quite strong enough. The nose art is from this model. You can see the special awards that this plane won in the earlier post from today. Nice Gentleman, and he deserved more that we could give.

Sorry about the duplicate photos of the young man with the Pitts. I wanted to make sure that I got at least one good pic of him and his plane. The pitts is a large scale version, and is powered by a 3-W 150 engine. The model is John's own design, and is completely built-Up. Mike Barbee served as his caller, and He turned in a great set of flight numbers. What is so special about him? He has M.S. and only requires a chair to be able to fly. Is he handicapped? Not in my eyes. He competed at Top Gun, aand has nothing to prove to anyone in the modelling community. He made it on his own. The model is gorgeous, as the photo's show, and his flying skills are dead on. On top of that, he is a nice guy (as was everyone with whom I came in contact at this event). I believe that I am a better person for having met people such as John, and his Mother and Dad. Great people.

this Tucano is from Thailand, and is built by Mike Selby. Mike left the USAF and returned to Thailand, where he has a successful law practice, as well as building the Composite models. This one has a true Turbo-prop engine, and the detailing is superb. There is even a Radar Scope that not only lights up, but sweeps at the proper cyclic rate. The screen is green in the normal mode, and turns red when in the threat mode, and then turns blue in the acquisiton mode. You would have to see it to believe it. I wish I had gotten a photo with Mike in the picture, but I did get the pilot and crew chief in the photo. The pilot? He's the Deputy Chief of Staff USAF (the Gent in the cap). The crew chief? The commanding General for U.S. Air Forces in Europe. Pretty heavy company wouldn't you say? They placed well, and as with all the others, these guys were as nice as could be. I was given a 60'th anniversary medallion commerating the USAF's history. The DCSUSAF made the gift to me, and I wouldn't be happier if you gave me the TOP GUN Trophy.

Jim,

Janelle came through the surgery in fine shape, and thanks for asking. She was up and walking that evening, and is doing about 1/2 mile per day now (Tuesday will be 2 weeks).

Me????? Do a Magazine article????????? You gotta be kidding.....Gordon Banks is probably rolling around on the floor laughing right now.

Bill,

Congratulations on receiving the 60th anniversary medallion commerating the USAF's history. As a retired senior enlisted member, the top brass I have met have always been pretty nice guys and have always been helpful and supportive to modelers on the bases I have flown at in Germany, Korea. and the states. I am glad to see at least a few have gotten into the sport as active participants instead of just spectators watching from the sidelines. Congratulations to them also for attaining the skill to participate in Top Gun.

And Bill, many thanks for the pictures and reports as our on the spot reporter for the Brotherhood.

Trade you a couple of Waco pictures for it . Can't think of anyone who deserves it more, and the recognition. I think being asked to be a permanent part of the event is also a fantastic honor.

Bravo Zulu, Master Chief. You've found heaven, I think. The photos are great, and the whole affair (Top Gun) seems beyond words.

I scanned the medallion for you guys to enjoy seeing. It is double sided, and the dimension is 2" and the cross section is a little over 1/8". According to my postal scale it weighs about 3.5 ounces. It is a little sharper than the scanned image shows.

Thanks Stickbuilder for welcoming me to the Brotherhood #45. I'll try to come up with something clever to go with my #45 to come up with a name for my self ideas from any body will be appreciated. I'm wondering what every one thought of Bill Johnson's Waco pic in the May issue of MA looks like a work of art.
