Here's a couple of shots of the "home brew" Pitts muffler I am building for the WACO. Still have to solder the ends on and the mounting straps to hold it down. I DO INTEND to replace the rubber band with metal

Hey, Master Chief, I was talking to one of our newer members at the field today and found out he was a submariner also. I knew he had served in the Navy but didn't know what he did. He was an engineering officer on SSN 681Batfish. His name is Tom Schultz, he's been out for several years. Any chance you two crossed paths?

Sittin' here waiting, hoping the UPF gets here soon, also want to get the UMF going again. Can't seem to get started again, since returning from St. Louis. I guess it's full scale WACO wannabe depression

Just let me know

Either way, have not scene the shirts yet but I'm guessing they're sweet! I'll be in on the next round!

I knew a MR. Schultz, but I don't remember his first name. I never served on Batfish though. I spent most of my time on Thresher class boats, and only got aboard the new boats the last couple of years.

Nice picture. I especially like the pissor.

If you liked that one, you'll LOVE this one. It was hanging in the bathroom in the flight ops office. I was tempted to make off with the original, but settled for a picture of a picture. The guy was into color coordinating everything; his plane, his bike, her thong.......

Heeeeeeeeeeelp

I placed the firewall F1 against the screen to find the correct scale, it comes the closest to 61%.
When I moved the drawing to the opposite end, the ruuder was way out of scale; Can some one please do the same if at all possible, I want to see if it is my computer.

Angel,

What size are you trying to build? 1/6th? The plans do down load and the ones I had printed at Kinkos came out OK. Wing span was exactly 60". The .jpg files DO NOT print out to the correct size, you have to resize them to fit, each one individually. If you can get the .dxf files to print, you are lucky, right now they usually do not print or open with just about any program that can read .dxf files (the problem is being worked on).

Your best bet is to order the 1/5th plans from the AMA, everything is correct. If you want the 1/6th size, you will have to resize them.

Hi Skylarkmk1.

1/5th scale, I will ask Kinkos If they can reproduce the plans, if not it will have to be the AMA.
I was having a problem, when I moved the cursor, I would get another view on top of the first view. now that's fixed.

aminiet,

You will be better off getting them from the AMA as a complete set. The cost for Kinko's will be about the same and you won't have the templates.

John, The photos you've downloaded have been a big help on my YMF build. I don't have any interior shots of the seats, sidewalls, stick and rudder pedals though. Do you have any of these available? If not does anyone else on the forum have interior shots? MItch WB 100

here's a few more, from CCA. The new YMF Classic and Super have a three faced panel, like the one triambsr shows (that's a nice one, too). The original YMF, as well as most other types, had a flat panel, or one with less angular side panels. Even then, there is great variation between one aircraft and another, dependent on the instrumentation.

From left to right are rear panels from a UBA, a UBF (the Texaco) and two UPF's. Front cockpits are even more widely varied, from fully instrumented to practically nothing but a glove box. The last two are front panels from UPF's, and the last pic is the rear seat of a UPF, which is also practically identical to the YMF.

I found one more, of the throttle quadrant on a UPF.

All,

170 Radial Engine report. Over in the ARF Section under the Top Flight Staggerwing (page 29, post 578), there is a report of it flying (at 22.5 lbs) with the 170, should anyone be interested on using the 170 for their YMF. Wing Spans are the same.

Mitch,

Here you go; from NC 14081, a 1987 YMF Classic. The Main Instrument panel does not have the Burl Center Panel as in TRs photos, but the rest the instrument panel is similar (avionics differ as the pilots prefer) and the interior is finished with padding and carpet.

P-1 – Rear seat throttle quadrant with stabilizer trim crank, parking brake (yellow striped handle), left fuel tank on/off (red handle) and lower left instrument panel.
P-2 – Rear seat right side with right fuel tank on/off (red handle), lower right instrument panel and the “key”.
P-3 – Front seat throttle Quadrant with stab trim crank in front of the quadrant, scuff pads below rudder pedals, door opening and warning placard, and locking glove box. You can also see the carburetor heat lever better.
P-4 – Front seat instrument panel, right side padded trim. Lower center placard (under Instr. Pnl.) reads “REAR SEAT FOR SOLO FLYING”.

As all of the pictures show, all kinds of finishes for each plane and pilot.
