I remember this story a wise old Marine once told me: 96 sailors departed for a 6-month cruise; 48 couples returned!

Humm! Well that tends to make me beleive that the Wise old Marine was once stationed aboard a submarine to be able to have his facts correct!!! Then that gives the proven fact as to where he stood in the relationship since the Marines are the sister side to the Navy!

There are no Marines stationed on Submarines. We are capable of guarding our own stuff. Plus, there is not any bunking space for Seagoing Bellhops. And your Jarhead buddy wasn't all that wise, since you can't carry enough foodstuff and stores for much over 120 days. Take that!

Waco Joe I missed getting to the AWC Fly-In, but looks like I'm going to make it to AirVenture 08. The guy who I was coming to CCA with religiously goes to OshKosh every year, and he has a spare seat. Let me know how to get in touch with you there.

Gentlemen.

This is for you guys with deep pockets. ROBART MFG. makers of the best landing gears for heavy models has a near perfect scale down 7 cylinder radial copy of a Jacobs 780.
The outside diameter is 9 13/16 rated at 10 HP.
You can see it running at www.robart.com and it's only a measly $4000.00.

It is just a tad large to be 1/5th scale.

It would be a tight squeeze in my 1/4 scale cowling as well.

can anyone direct me to the post on landing gear repairs. I broke the gear on my Cox Hobbies 1/6 scale Pica Waco tonight when I had to land with the wheel pant upside down. Grass yanked the pant off and snapped the wire at the weld inside the fiberglassing. I seem to recall a post by Khodges some time past on how he had fixed a similar problem, but I cant find it in the thread. There must be a better way to search this forum, but I haven't figured it out.

Chris,

Go to page one, post one of this thread, scroll down to the index and look for Aluminum Sheet below "Landing Gear - Sprung" and click on the post number. Ken replaced his wire gear with Sheet aluminum gear made by Jay (damifino). You might contact Jay to see if he could make you a set or you could maybe fabricate your own.

Yes, I know the index needs to be updated, but this thing called "work" keeps getting in the way of things and my hours just got longer.

Thanks! It was not my intent to criticize this threadI was just frustrated in using the RC Universe Search engine. It returns the threads that contain the search phrase, but not the post number. With so much in this thread, my memory is just good enough to tell me its here, but not where

Something else that works well, is to keep a pad and pen/pencil by the computer. Take notes on a post that interests you, and when you have the post number, you can always reference it easily. I know, It's stone age, but it works for me.
