Status: offline 		about this far |<---- ? ---->| Im sorry I dont have a number but as you can see by the photo I get a rough idea and use aluminum spacers on 24-10 threaded rod to make up a set of standoffs that rest on the fire wall and i make the cutout for the carb once the motor stands on the fire wall i make the cut outs on the cowelling. after i get it close to the mark i mark the spot where the standoffs go drill the wholes. Then i add the right spacer and washers to the stand offs to het the right spinner clearance I can say its a tad shorter than the ultimate and the edge my guess is the 3" standoffs on the DA would be very close with the Evo Ive never messured it i just make it fit. I pulled out a 1/4" spacer from the standoffs after pulling the engine from the Ultimate. as you can see in the 2nd pic i has excessive clearance issues with it in there. I also added a washer to the lower standoff.

Status: offline 		you add the 12oz to the front ? the evo is almost a pound more than the DA so a went on the wrong assumption i was going to be nose heavy.

Like Tom was thinking this would be perfect at 3-1/2 CG with everything in the standard locations with an Evolution In my opinion I did want to start at 4" cuz sanity isnt part of my hobby

Status: offline 		Lets get this straight from the beginning---The Fuji-Imvac BT86cc is heavy and I do not think it is the a good choice for power to weight or value. My advise was to sell it and get a better motor. That being said, I know someone who has a BT86cc (tried it in his 33% EDGE 540 and replaced it for DA100) and does not want to sell it. He wants to find a 30% Yak for it, but as far as I can see this 91" Cap looks like the plane for this motor. Has anyone put a motor like this in the 91" cap? Any idea if it can be balanced this 7+ pound motor? Thanks

Please look at my original post. He is looking for a home for his BT86cc motor. I think it may be about the weight of a DA100 and the power of a good 70cc motor. He does not want to sell the BT86cc. I would like to recommend to him the best plane for this "orphan" motor. To me it looks like this 91" Cap is about the biggest lightest plane that this motor can adequately power.

Do you agree? Will it fit in the cowl? Will it balance?

Status: offline 		oh oops sorry. i think you could make it work.. the cowl is really big. Tom says on his site the gt-80 is a possibility and that sucker weighs over 7 lbs so.....

Status: offline 		Something I'd like to add about balance and added weight here.

For those putting togerher any new plane you will benefit greatly from mounting the engine first, placing all the components inside the plane where you think they should go using masking tape, and then check to see where the plane balances before you secure anything. More often than not you'll find that the locations you've selected for the components will have to be changed to get a close final balance point.

Don't be afraid to be a little creative and move components to places other than the pre-made cut outs. That applies to any plane with any manufacturer.
