Then, tonight, we got the cut out for the carb and throttle connections done. We also test ran the engine and set the needles. The last picture is of the engine at idle believe it or not.

Yeah, I'm going to fly both planes with the same engine. I can only take one to the field so it'll work. I didn't post any pictures of the CAP the other day and mentioned that as the reason why. As a result, someone asked for pictures of it so I thought I'd give it to them. Still working on the CAP though, but I'm being held up by the lack of the standoffs I ordered not showing up yet. Once I get those and get the engine out of the Edge and into the CAP, it's just setting up the radio, which is pretty easy and should be done in a few nights. If I get the standoffs by Tuesday of next week, I might be able to maiden (with a video of it) next weekend.

That 3W twin is a beauty! I woder how much power it has.
Do you have top RPM´s numbers with that 3W prop?.

We have not tached the engine yet because it was run for the first time last night. The engine weighs 4.1 lbs. with ignition. So maybe about .75 lbs. more than a DA 50 and it will swing a 22x10 at 7200 when broken in. Those are G62 numbers.

The engine turned over really easy last night. About 5 flips with the choke on and it popped. Then, 4 flips and it was running. This is one sweet engine. Plus, I had the prop blades balanced in addition to the hub along with it being a twin....very smoothe. I ordered a Bolly 22x10 for the plane today so I'm going to balance that one DOD style to.

Ok, I had to finish up the Edge tonight, so I didn't get to work on the CAP. However, I did get some 'Bling' for the CAP from Kirby's Kustom today.

Ok, I got the standoffs for the motor and a little time to work on the plane. I got the ailerons hooked up tonight. I like to use CF rods from Central Hobbies with titanium ends. I just use a little JB Weld to hold them in.

I also installed the rudder servo. On all of these servos, I used #3 servo screws from microfasteners.com. I really like them and they are easier than the phillips head ones that come with the servos. I also replaced the servo horn screws with socket head screws from microfasteners.com.

Hey are you guys with the heavier engines using the pull pull setup for rudder, or 2 in the back?

I just move my battery packs as far back as I can and then move them forward if I need more nose weight. The plane is designed to balance around an engine this size and it's only a little more heavier than a DA 50. I also move my throttle and choke servos back in addition to the ignition battery.

I finished up the ailerons tonight and started working on the elevator servos. I also got pulled the pull-pull cable from B&P Associates and installed the rudder horn.

This picture shows the location of the elevator servo. I like servos that are up more so I can get a straighter linkage between the arm and control horn; however, this still works fine though. I also started putting on some of the graphics.

I'm just working on odd jobs on the plane right now. I glued in some plywood for the Sig Wheel Pant Mounts and also cut a piece of balsa to cover up the canister opening.

Just with the engine mounting. I need a drill press since the standoffs I have aren't open through the middle and a 1/4-20 tap. I emailed one of the guys I fly with and if he can't help, I may take you up on your offer.
