Just FYI Jeff Carte won 2nd in basic this past weekend. I've been saying the Cap is so smooth and steady it would make a good IMAC plane.

Status: offline 		So I finally got a chance to work on the CAP. I started tonight by installing the SIG wheel pant mounts. If you've never used them, I suggest you try them. I first figured out where the inside pant needed to go. Then, using the axle, I found where the outside pant goes. I just used the drilled holes for the inside pant to figure out the drill location for the outside mount. I used a GP dead drill tool to accomplish this. Just took it out of the rest of the tool. Once you do one side, do the other.

Status: offline 		In the end, you get nice pants that will never crack from vibration and never give you any trouble at all. No loctite required.

Also, check out the tail wheel assembly. It's pretty nice. I also put the rudder tiller arms on.

Thanks for chiming in on the **** thread I posted on a plane for the OS 160. I opted for the Tunnel Vision which is coming along well, waiting for some parts to finish it. I friend is finishing up his WH 73" Edge and it is looking sooooo good, makes me wonder if I made the wrong decision. But we need more variety at the field and I was hoping to get a good tax refund and get one of the 50 cc WH's. So, my question to you is which one would you chose if this was your first gas plane? It seems from all the posts on RCU that you have experience with many WH planes. The Cap you are building now looks like a really sweet one!

Status: offline 		They're all built to last. People have complained that they can't destroy there bunny. If you're planning on getting a DA 50, for example, I would recommend any of them. The CAP however would be my first choice. I've heard of people coming in at 15.5 lbs. stock with a DA 50. Of course, if you got the Edge or Extra, you could get it down to 16-16.5 lbs. using micro servos on throttle, CF spinner, CF wing and stab tubes. The advantage of the Edge or Extra is that they can probably take a little more of a beating. Let me PM you an offer.

Status: offline 		Ben's right about them taking a beating. I have always had a thing for Cap's and when I dumb-thumbed my H9 80" Cap, I looked far and wide for something comparable. Couldn't find one, so I went to a WH 300LX, just transferring the guts from the old plane. The 300LX has been a real winner and flies great! I am waiting for command authority to get one of Tom's Cap's and it will be the 91".

BTW, Ben you are doing a great job on the review. Keep it up, we need a video!

Status: offline 		Thanks Dave, hopefully I can maiden her this weekend and get a video of that.

Tonight, I fuel proofed the firewall and adjacent ares. I also installed the fuel tank in addition to the receiver. Since I like to run redundant receiver batteries, I'm also installing a Smart Fly BatShare as well as a Smart Fly Regulator. Running redundant batteries saved my Edge last weekend. I had one battery get flung to the back of the plane doing knife edge spins.

Status: offline 		Well, with phamil1's help, I got the engine mounted today. Pretty sweet set up. Now that the beast is in the cowl. I finally got a chance to glue the rudder. I also set up the pull-pull cables. I haven't sealed the rudder hinge gap yet, but I'll do that tomorrow morning or sometime before I put the cotter pins in the horns. And lastly, there's a picture with the cowling on.
