Well, this is what she looks like 300 hours later. Test flown and ready for Top Gun this week. (At least we hope so ) Still needs a little weathering and extra scale details.

Awesome bird John. Definitely needs to be dirtied up to look like a firebomber though! Good luck at TG.

Thx Chad,

Yes, it needs to be dirtied up a bunch. Mike Hapsas, my TG Team partner is removing the shine with steel wool as we speak. Almost a shame to ruin the nice paintjob..... Then it will be airbrushed with various shades of dirt and grime.....

Speaking of top gun
I'm arriving in Lakeland thursday. Any advice or highlights for spectators.? Are there many vendors there?. Can spectatorts get reasonably close to planes to take photos. best day to do so?
Thanks

mfranke,
You can buy a pit pass for about $25 that will let you up close all 4 days. There were a few vendors last year, about 20 or so. At least one day you need to drive over to Fantasy of Flight museum. Get there early and be sure to take the "behind the scenes" tour. Garages full of warbirds and parts waiting to fly again. There is also a nice sport aviation(homebuilts) museum at the airport where TG is being held.
