maybe there are some people using this oil,but it isn't really suitable for model-engines. 2-stroke motorcycle oil, mineral or synthetic, burns in the ignition process, and this is not good for "our" engines. the smoke from motorcycles is mostly burned oil,but the smoke from model-engines are very small oil drops which havn't been burned, there only passing throug doing the hole job, lubricating the engine.

Actually, all 2 strokes have oil in the fuel for lubrication, wheather mixed or injected. The 2 cycle oil meant for cycles, lawn mowers, and trimmers will not mix with methanol. As with all oils, some inferior oils do burn up in the chamber, but their are higher quality oils. Yamaha, Klotz, Red Line, all make blended oils that do a fine job of lubricating the parts of a high revving, high performance, petrol powered 2 stroke. The exhaust from a dirt bike, you'll find to be somewhat greasy. Not to the extent of our nitro powered ones, but if it's totally dry it's too lean too. Your weed wacker probably doesn't require these though.

But, getting back to your question. Try it. Stick some glow fuel into a clear glass, and put a drop or weed wacker oil in it. It'll go to the bottom in a ball, like oil on top of the water.

are you suggesting that if such oil (eg. bel-ray SI-7) would mix with methanol it would be suitable for glow engines?

most of them are synthetics, and many people say that almost all synthetics will mix with methanol, but aren't suitable for glow engines. my previous post is a result from a extended google search in this topic, but it doesn't mean that it coudn't be wrong.

so,there are we again at square one:

is a "synthetic 2-stroke racing oil for motorcycles ",which will mix in methanol, suitable for glow engines????

Where did you find the info on bel-ray 2-stroke oil mixing with methanol?

Bel-Ray Techs
. . .You will get great results as long as you are using petroleum fuel and not alcohol based fuels.
http://www.belray.com/consumer/Q&A%20pages/q&amisc.html
Down about the middle of the page.

The people who say"almost all synthetics will mix with methanol", have any of them actually tried it? If you could find a high quality 2-stroke oil for racing cycles, turning the r's we do, I'd have to say it would probably be suitable. You'd have to look at the property sheet to be sure, but it would prob be fine.
