Ok we've covered the smallest recently, so what's the largest model diesel out there? I mean a normal looking single cylinder proper model engine. NOT a converted motorbike engine or anything modified! Any links or pictures?...

I started thinking about this the other day as I remember my grandad told me he used a small engine on his push bike, back in the 40's - 50's. Not sure if it was a model engine or not though. Anyway he used to commute all week on a few pence of fuel!

The largest 2 stroke modelengine in 1947 was the boxer diesel engine at 14 ccm designed by Andre Gladieux, the engineer responsible for Micron diesel engines.

Just Engines has a JEN .91 listed as glow or diesel with both U/C and R/C versions. That would be about 15 cc.

Jack by definition as a "true diesel" in current production it has to be the PAW 60 since the MVVS , Jen 91, are conversions from glow
and good ones, have both along with an ST90 which are my largest ones. I think the largest "production head" out there is the the ST
3500 conversion from Davis martin

OOPS!!!!! Sorry about the spelling error. The answer is, the Super Tigre 4500 conversion which we brought to market shortly after the engine arrived in the USA. The 60 cc Tiger twin was largest in total displacement.

Back in the 1950's when I started using diesels, there was a general perception that diesels were not as effective above about .25 and that glow was better above those sizes. A Frog .21 was my largest diesel (~1960).

Apparently that was due to the design of larger diesels available at the time. Today the larger ones appear to be every bit as good as a glow for performance and, due mostly to Mr. Davis' conversions, are available in sizes much larger than I need.

Diesels are good!

I have the Clone a Tiger shark 91 ringed AJs head great engine and quiet. Evidently Just Engines now is the source under the JEN label
Also the TS 56 ringed the same, they are excellent engines and priced well under OS. Davis of course has been making heads for the "big guys" for years example OS FS 91 TS 90s etc etc. Am still waiting on the OS46AX and his head from his testing of the prototype is awsome martin

I was at the davis diesel website... is that a gas motor converted to diesel?

Op, nevermind. I just looked it up. It's a tartan 50cc twin. Smaller than the tigre twin mentioned above.

Probably swings a 17" prop and you learn a 2 handed push, like an old time light aircraft................CONTACT

These ones are pretty too : Taplin Twin aero 15 CC by Arne Ende "mostly made with original Taplin parts" and Taplin Twin 15 CC water cooled circa 1966 ( shot with her little sister 8 CC) : she starts, turns and iddles like a swiss watch ...
Take a look at my website : http://e.a.t.chez-alice.fr/AAmoteursminiatures.html and let me know if you appreciate it, thanks !

And my fianc'e thinks my collection is excessive, man what a bunch of boat motors. There are some real unique ones in there that I have never even heard of although the manufacturers are familiar for the most part.
