greeting to all this is my first posting to this website so please try to be gentle

today i bought a used Robbe SF-36 motor glider from a local hobby shop the aircraft itself is in great shape save the missing main spar metal joiner to plug the wings to the fuselage , anyone have a copy of the instruction manul and or could cut me a copy of there spar wing joiner, would really love to get this bird airborne.
what can i say was a good deal for the plane and figure someone out there might have another and could copy it for me, of course i would pay for the materials and labor ,to copy it ,but be nice the SSI check is only so big

thanks for any and all assistance

John

My mate (nowdead!) had one. As I remember it was a single joiner with incidence pegs. Was it a rod or blade joiner? Either is easy to replicate. Just a length of spring steel. However it may well be a Metric size, easy in Europe but in the US?

thanks for the repl yes it is a flat piece of either alluminum or spring steal and as far as i can tell 2mm thick and about 12 mm tall but not sure on the lenght or dihedreal needed

that is the kink if someone had one they could trace out then i could easly replicate it from local stock

Hi flightmate,
This a standard system of asteel blade. ?Does the slot go right through? If so it is probable that the dihedral is taken care of in the wing.
This very common in europe and the spring steel blades are available easily.I buy 1M lengths as required. I'm sure someone like a Multiplex importer should be able to help. If you have a real problem give me accurate dims inc. total length, I may be able to help.
David.

dave soar , yes the slot in the fuselage goes completely thru the fuse, i was thinking along the same lines as they mayhave built in the dihedral in the wing slots and only need a flat piece, i was looking at an aluminum yard stick and got to thinking it is the right thickness and could easly cut it down to the right height but worried about flight loads, so i think i shoud follow your advice and find some spring steal at a scrap yard, would be nice to get her in the air

Use only spring steel which is a firm fit and full length thro' fuz and both wing slots.

I have this plane and I must say it has been one of my favorites....It is now waiting for a full refurbish since I have flown it and flown it since I got it in -99 (my plane is from -86).. I wonder what size engine it is supposed to have? Mine came with an ASP 75 2-stroke, way overpowered, giving me 2 metres takeoffs! I want the plane to be a gentle, slow flyer so I want to fly with the design engine size.

electric you say Sure, it would be a dream, but what size brushless would this plane take? I planned to put my old Saito twin cylinder (2x40) motor on it, but electric is actually more tempting.

Try the Axi series of outrunners. They swing a nice big prop without a gearbox.
I fly a 1/4 Scale Fournier on an Axi 4120/18 swinging a 15x10 wooden prop and 5S1P 3300 LiPo pack, lovely 'brisk' scale performance and plenty of airtime - it does glide!

Hi F'mate,
Built from a plan by one of the best known UK designers. Trouble is I cant remember his name! Its on the plan so I'll dig it out and post it here ASAP. I think its an age problem!!

Flightmate,
The Fournier was from a Mick Reeves plan. Another source for a similar motor glider, the Falke, plans by maestro Cliff Charleswoth, can be found, I think, on the 'aviation modeller international' site.
