Yep - agree. I had the same problem mounting my Syssa 30. Heat the blind nuts gently with a soldering iron to soften the epoxy that's holding them to the firewall. Insert a small bore screwdriver against the thread (from the outside obviously) and knock the blind nut out. I placed some tape over the rear of the holes, stood the fuse vertically and filled the holes with 30 min epoxy. 24 hours later after full cure time - redrilled using the laser marks and the supplied Syssa template. Perfect. never had a problem with it and the Syssa pulls like a mule.

hope this helps,

Beej

Mac...Looks like you may need to modify the firewall by moving the T-Nuts to match your template. When I have to do this, I usually just fill the holes with G-Glue and the correct size dowel rod and re-drill.

Thanks! I doweled and epoxied the hole and re-drilled.

Use of epoxy is fine. I just prefer G-Glue over using epoxy. Just a matter of choice.

How did it come out? I just picked up this airframe and was thinking of going with the DLE30, but am trying to get a clear picture of what I need to do to mount it. Did you not have to cut out the firewall for the rear carb to fit? Any way you can provide a follow up on how this turned out, and better pictures?

Tom

Hi,
just wanted to understand user experience regarding this airplane with a dle 20 vs a dle 30. Will the 20be able to do most aerobatic moves on it? Once I am comfortable, I can move to the 30. Also, some tell me the airplane is rather twichy?

I don't have the plane yet, but my brain is about to explode from all the reading I've done. I understand that the DLE20 is close in spec to a 120 or so nitro which is a lower end power wise for a plane this size. I believe it will fly just fine with such an engine, however won't have a ton of power. DLE30 is more like a 160-180 so this plane will be a rocket with that and that's what I'm planning to put on it. I don't know that I'd waste the time/money mounting a DLE20 since so many are having good experiences with the DLE30. I think the squirrelyness is related to weight and balance more than anything. If you don't see yourself needing the power of a DLE30 anytime soon go for the DLE20 I'd say. Me I'd rather do this once so the DLE30 is what I'm going to go with probably.

I just hope someone can provide detail and pictures of the best way to fit a rear carb mounted DLE30...

Tom

Just received my Yak on Tuesday. Beautiful airplane. Will need next to no reinforcement when I get around to using it. Right now, I am taking the heck out of a Reactor Bipe

Guys, how many of you have the airplane built so that the tailplane is removed for transportation? Does anyone have a problem with this?

Hi,
guys, I need to know the pushrod length on the elevators & ailerons. Basically, the distance between hinge point on the horn & servo I plan to get pushrods with opposite hand threads such as on aeroworks larger models so I can adjust the linkage without taking it off.

Mine, purchased in December 2012, came with that type of linkage. I know this, since it was the first time I had used the opposite threaded rods which I found out after trying to screw the clevis on the wrong way for 5 minutes. Amazing how well it worked when I went the other way!
I found it interesting that with a LiFe battery and diodes to the ignition, my RCGF 26cc equipped model is tail heavy-after juggling items around.
