The 90 to 120 seams to be some what sensetive. Get the CG right. THe throws have been givin for triple rates. I went 3D and half way between low and high rates (for duel rate radios) The power of the OS 160 is awsome. My weight is around 10 lbs. I weighted the plane don't remember the oz's I want to replace the landing gear with carbon fiber. THis plane is a 3D machine with the right power. I am happy thinking about my next Aeroworks model purchase. I have the small edge ready to put together too.

The Small Edge is great! Love it! I cant wait for the larger 1.20 Edge..... but we might have to wait a while.

Perfect choice....you'll be happy with all that power. use a 15x6 prop. If you havent run across the thread...here it is:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3517297/tm.htm

Tip: Despite what the manual says....Initially set your CG at about 3 1/4" back....and you'll still be a bit nose heavy. Im at about 3 1/2...maybe just a tad more. But you'll read about this in the thread above.

Just for anybody that's interested:

Finally got the plane dialed in today, YS 110, apc 16x6, Cool Power 30%. Comes in at 10 lbs 8 oz, and I get 15 lbs 2 oz thrust. I hover at 1/2 to slightly less than 1/2 throttle, fantastic speed, and the plane feels super light. Good for any IMAC I fly, and waterfalls and inverted harriers are the best I've ever done. I wondered about engine selection for a long time, and wanted to share me findings with anybody elese that was wondering.

Has anyone been flying this one with a Evolution 26cc and a pitts muffler? How's the performance?

there was someone that posted about that engine along time ago and said the power with that motor was not that great. especially for the cost of the engine.

I have heard that they do great of you change the front bearing and make a provision for a tuned pipe, and buy a header, tuned pipe, and coupler, then they do OK. In my opnion use a MLD 28, or Syssa 180 if you want gas. My YS 110 is great, way more than I need. Saito 150 or 180. I work at a hobby shop in my spare time, and I have never heard great things about the Evo 26. The Evo 50, 58, and 80 seem to be great engines tho. Good luck.

quique had a video of one of his planes with that motor and pull out was very slow. tuned pipes might be the way to go but that would include more weight and modifications. the mld 28 is a great motor for this plane. and maybe even the dle30 but not sure what the weight is. by the way i am going to sell my mld 28. just got back from cermark with a check up and it's ready to go. $200.

I have sold 2
DL 30's at my shop, and the 2 guys have been very dissapointed. Said the engines won't take any throttle. problem with the fuel puddling in the induction port in the rear, even though they are side exhaust. I think it is in the DL 30 thread. Havent heard anything better than the MLD. Except for a YS, but that's a biased opnion....

Did you have your mld 28 in the yak? If so, how did you like it?

I am considering getting another 90-120 Yak and using the DLE 30 for power. Could I ask one of you to give me the inside measurement of the cowl? I would like the vertical and horizontal measurements. I was able to get the firewall to prop flange measurement from the on-line manual.

thanks rv9-a

Going with the DL30 and looking for a starter prop recommendation after break in (19/6 maybe).
My elevation is about 1000 ft or so.

Thanks Rocco,

Looks as if I may need two DLE 30's. One for the Yak and one for the 195 Cessna that I am waiting for.

How does your yak fly with the DLE-30? Did you liked? Which prop are you run on it?

Any advices to build it with the dle-30?

Thank you.

Dear Rocco,

I need buy the 90-120 yak 54 cowl and here in Brazil aeroworks has a really bad distributor. My yak arrives from the store with the demage cowl, I call to the store and they told me to wait for the replace. I have been waiting for that about 3 month and nothing. I called Diniz Esteves (aeroworks distributor in BRazil, really bad one) and they do not helps. What should I do?
Aeroworks is really good brand but needs a good represents here in Brazil.

I try to buy direcly from aeroworks but there is no option on the web site.

Let me know if you can sell me the cowl.

There in US you guys has the same problem to have replace parts?

Thank you.

It looks like the needles are in a good spot for adjustment. Unlike a glow engine you want to shut these puppies down, make your change, try it then repeat.
Not a good idea to do it with the engine running.
