ORIGINAL: MR G GPutt, Thanks, I noticed that on the new saito 150 it is possible to swing the carb and velocity stack to avoid th mounting bolts for the motor mount. Also flipped the carb 180 degrees. Today I got to run the Saito 150 for the first time!!! I only got about 3/4 of a tank through it due to some issues that needed to resolve. Issues: The red fuel line supplied by aerowrorks was too small for the nipple on the muffler and split. The rear wing retainer pins could not be installed because they would hit the tray located underneath. I did not tighten the intake stack nut tight enough after swinging it over to avoid the motor mounting bolt. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Replaced the red fuel line used for muffler pressure with standard size fuel tubing (really easy fix) Carefully made small holes to allow the wing retainer clips to be installed ( also an easy fix) Tightened the intake nut (super easy fix) All fixes we completed during the halftime of the Dallas Cowboys game (about 15 min) I did not get alot of run time, nor did I get alot of rpm measurements. running APC 17X6 15% fuel. I did get some measurements. It peaked at 9400, then richened it up to 8600 (make sure of rich high end) Thrust feels like it will shoot out of hover (Hollywood). I thought I had it idling at about 1980...this is amazing this early. At idle I pinched the fuel line and after about a second it started to increase rpm. (make sure low end is rich) My overall opinion of this aircraft is that it is well thought out and well put together. I also believe that the Saito 150 will be an exceptionally exciting engine to run on this airplane. I have not yet flown the airplane but I would definitely recommend this airplane to anyone, but bear in mind this airplane is NOT a trainer. After I get a couple of tanks ran through the engine I will do my maiden (still breaking it in). You're going to love that combo! I have tons of power with my 1.80 and I'm sure your 1.50 will do the same. For the retainer pins you could have just pushed the pins looking to the inside of the plane. That's what I have used and I haven't had any problems. Make sure you use split washers on the wheel pants screws. One of the screws on one of wheel pants broke its head off. I replaced all the screws and added split washers. I haven't had any problems. I love my Yak and I would recommend it to anyone for their next aerobat. Be sure to post some pics!
