flaperons on 3d style planes read post 1229 you get the reverse of what you expect. conclusion it does not work!

i am flying with the saito 150 which i am used to and i started with a 16-8 apc which i have used alot on other planes . i found on this plane it was to much pitch for slowing the plane on landing so today i tryed a 17-6 apc an was was quite happy with the results. with a touch of throtle see came in slower but with athority also it greatly improved vertical power

I checked my inventory and I had a 17x6 APC prop, so I tried it today. Much Better. Fly's well and lands slower.
Thanks for the suggestion.

The plastis spinner the came with the Yak basically melted today when the prop came loose. I had to pry the prop off of the back plate and the engine side of the backplate also melted from the groves on the engine. Replacing with an aluminum spinner.
I guess a plastic spinner isn't a good idea on the larger engines??

Yes, exactly. With larger engines, especially those who use hi torque starters, do not use plastic spinners because of what exactly happened to you. Carbon fiber and aluminum spinners are more durable.

I've had my YAK 54 out a few times so far and keeping an eye on the landing gear, wheel pants nuts & bolts, etc. Everything seems fine and it's still a joy to fly as it was on the first flight. Everything seems to be holding up very well and it's just an all around well built plane and a very nice flying plane as well. The concrete runway that I use will probably chew up the tires before this season ends so I'm hoping that's all I'll have to replace.

You will be suprised with the tires. I fly from a paved runway and have them on an AW edge also. They are holding up better than the rubber ones on my funtana.

I see you have a QQ yak also. How does this one compare?

The QQ YAK 54 looked better than it really was as far as fit and finish. The Aeroworks YAK 54 IMO is a much better quality ARF all around.

I was hesitant to put the 17x4W APC on the Saito 180 because I like the 18x5 Zinger so much. WOW, shouldnt have waited. It flies like a totally different plane, and I was able to use 15% nitro instead of 20%, significant savings, and more reliable run with the 17x4W. I was having trouble with the hover because of the torque rolling with the 18x5. Now it hovers great, and I can stop the torque roll if I want

Rolling harriers are smoother too. Just cant believe that prop could make that big of a difference. Tried some inverted elevators, and was quite impressed, does them better than the Funtana X100, not quite as slow but much much more stable. Inverted harriers are rock solid, slight wing rock in uprights. To be honest, I cant find anything I dont like about this plane yet. Seems to be capable of far more than I am!

If you really want to blown away use the Vess sport series props. I bought a 17x6 and a 18x6 and power is awesome with both.The 18x6 seems to have the upper edge in pulling power in terms of hovering. Hover at 1/3 throttle!!! I had an APC 18x6W before and although I had lots of power, the prop was too heavy and put a larger load on the engine. The lighter wood Vess props are awesome!

Where can you get vess props in that size? Their site only has 22" and above.
