Tom
Thanks for the information. My wings are so tight that I have just been using the clips. Have never had a problem. But I do not put a lot of stress on the wings since I do not do 3D flying. However going to camp again today for a couple of weeks and will use the bolts next time out. Thanks again! Dick

I would use the screws as primary attachments. Clips as the backup.

Yes I have them and they are very nice and the price is nice to. They have real nice padding in them and fit like a glove.

Well, I finally weighed mine. 10lbs. 2.3 oz. AUW dry. Guess I got a nice light one. I figured I would check lateral balance again. Wasnt too bad, added .75oz to right wing tip, guess I checked it in too much of a hurry before. Dont know if I'll see a difference in flight with .75, but cant wait to try! On second thought. If it snaps to the right (rolls with elevator), wont the .75 on right wing tip make it worse? I was using 0 aileron trim before, wont this also add roll on level flight? Funny how you think about this as your typing. Ideas?

I will ask this one more time, what does anybody think about putting an OS 160 on the nose? Has anybody done it already and how does it fly?

I have never had a 160, but from the specs it will tend to be a little nose heavier than whats recommended, and will increase your overall weight. But you can just move the battery back a little. It would be a screamer, and require good throttle management. I personally would not put the 160 on this plane. I'm at 10lbs 2oz, and would actually like to see it a little bit lighter, and the saito 180 weighs 5 to 6 oz less than the OS 160.

Oh yeah, I know you guys all know what the plane looks like, but finally took some pics, and thought I would share.

Got my big box yesterday, took it home and unpacked and checked everything out, perfect! It is a little smaller than I expected. I glued the rudder and mounted my OS 160 last night. Today I should be able to start finishing it up. These QB kits are great, Aerowerks does a great job.

I have a Saito 125 4-stroke. Would it be a good fit for this plane? I'd like to do some 3D flying with this. If anyone uses this (or a comparable engine like YS110), what does it weigh empty?

Thanks,

Alan

There is a review here on this plane with a Saito 125. http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=911 I had a Funtana X100, which weighs almost 2lbs less, and the 125 was barely enough for 3D in it. The 125 in this plane would be way under powered for 3D, maybe ok for pattern and just putting around. I have a Saito 180 in mine, dry weight is 10lbs 2.3oz. The 180 doesnt weigh all that much more than the 125. 6oz approx., I think.

I have 100 flights on my Yak with a Saito 150 and a 17x6 APC prop and it has enough power to do any 3D you want. The 150 and 180 weigh about the same and have the same mounting dimention.

Thanks for the info on engines that match this plane. That's what I was afraid of - that it wouldn't be enough power. Thanks for the Funtana 100 info as well. That was another option for me...

You wont regret the X100. It flies like a giant foamie. I believe I'm going to get another one myself, I miss it. I also had a 125 in the Aeroworks 60 size edge, it was awesome. Needed the 125 for something else, and put a 100 in the edge and its still awesome.
