I'm standing at the meet talking to a friend when up comes Mr. Tom Beckman (CD) and OFFiCER LANE. It appears that Tom has called the police on me claiming that I was causing a disturbance and wanted me removed from the field. Note: I had been at the field for fifteen minutes, said hi to Craig Wilson, Eddie Weeks Lynn Stevens etc... minding my own business, never said a word to any of the Deland Clan. According to the officer I had two options at this point, leave the field in my car or his, so off I went. Can you say CIVIL SUIT! Man are these guys going down! Not only am I filing a civil suit agains Mr Beckman, Deland Golden Hawks and the city of Deland but I will MAKE SURE they loose this field. They want to play hard ball, i'm in! This will be the last JOD, enjoy!

What was the turnout? both pilot and crowd? Were you able to ask those who showed up and paid to fly why they did?

I sent you an email via the button and the bottom of the post.

Too bad Todd! I believe if I was getting accused of causing a disturbance and was told I had 2 options.....I would have started a disturbance and left in the mans car! Either that or I would start a sure enough disturbance tomorrow!

Todd,

Sounds like to me that the entire club down there has stripped all the threads off the common sense bolt!!!! Grown men wanting to enjoy a common intrest has come so political that the call the police??? Give me a break!!!! Sounds like someone has a huge ego to fullfill at the cost of alot of not so eager associates..I guess that's how WWII got started... the good man will prevail!!!
Hang in there dude!!!

Regards,

Dan M.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate occurance. It seems that this hobby of ours is becoming more and more "corporate" all the time. What happened to the good ol' days when we went to the field to unwind, hang out with friends and fly? What could be more relaxing.
I am very sorry to hear that this happened to you.
Best of luck, Marco.

Sorry to hear that you had problems there. I for one will never go to any of their events! I think this is what they really want ( no events), so that they can spend all of their time with club rules etc. They need to get a life and learn to enjoy it ( flying ) instead of making so many crazy rules.

Sorry about your experience Todd, but nothing those morons do surprises me anymore. Some of them are so deeply lost in paranoia and misplaced ego it's scary.

FYI, in the continuing saga of the Tarnished-Hawks the all mighty president had silently "authorized" the search for a new flying site. Which brings up two questions; (1) Why do it covertly, and (2) Why do it at all? I firmly believe #1 was a stretch of the truth otherwise it surely would have been a campaign item in the infamous struggle for power and #2, well, I think we can all form our own reasonable conclusions about that one.

Contrary to the constant suggestions of on-line club members that the "whole story" is never given, you people reading this thread should know very well by now what this club is all about.

From financial trouble with the IRS and the subsequent failure to notify it's membership of those troubles (they "forgot"), to mindless maniacal political targeting of innocent club members and their eventual dismissal from the club, and finally actions like the one you're reading from Todd.

In my opinion the best thing for the RC community to do, in general, is to vigorously write the AMA for some kind of oversight of this out of control club, write to the city and county officials who manage the public land the club operates on, and stop supporting their events.

Florida has many other quality events put on by quality people with both the spectator and the pilot in mind. Deland is not one of them, and never has been.

Todd, did they say what kind of a disturbance it supposedly was? Did you have any idea about what they were talking about? Why are they targeting you? Very sorry to hear that this happened to you.

Todd : I think that after all the talk about
Deland the last past months, and all the jets
jocks promising not to support the event, but
mostly of they attending'' it, do not surprised
me that they, the CD menbers take an action on
your person,or other one, because they feel that
have the reason to do,they have the same numbers
of pilots of past events.
I am very sorry about the bad moment.
Regards,
Pedro

Todd, do not know if you've seen this yet, but Frank Tiano just posted the following to the Jets List:

"Hi List,
I don't know Todd's email but if any of you do, please let him know that Florida Jets is happy to invite him to fly with us in February. If he contacts us we will Comp his entry fee and give him a dinner Ticket. Hopefully this will help make his lousy experience a bit better. Thanks,
Frank"

Awfully nice of Frank!

FREAKIN NAZI'S

I'll never support anything they do, unless some sweeping replacements happen in leadership down there.

I am going to close this thread as what needs to be said looks like it has been. It's unfortunate for both sides here for what has happened. I hope we all remember we share a common passion and love for this hobby and try to get along because of that common interest.

this makes my blood boil !!!!! I guess we will be better of as some of the idiots in this world start to die off !!! no mourning here ...... I personally would have questioned the officer on what grounds i was being removed, and if i did leave, it would have to be in the cop car .... yea, go ahead and charge me ! with witneses to support that someone did not cause any disturbance, charges could easily be counterfiled against the **** who called the cops in the first place ..... , believe me after my lawyer and I would have been done, the police officer would be without a job, and the club disbanded ....

Tod, don't let this go, dont let them try to take away from your dignity !!

man now im going to bed all pissed off now !!!!

Wow....old memories ..... What brought this to the top?

I did pursue things in the legal arena..... The club fizzled out so fast after all that went down that I felt I was waisting my time. I hit them where it hurt..... Member base went from over 120 to less than 40, JOD was dead and the BOD was left with their Spuds in their hands. Not sure the status of the club now, last I heard there were less than half a dozen that actually fly and the airport was looking to take back the land. Most of the "Taliban" are either dead or Dis-banded ..... It's a shame things went down like this, had the members just ejected the idiots running the BOD they would still have a club ....

Bygones..........
Todd
