I have an 18V battery (for cordless drill) that I would like to charge with my Triton. I have no idea how many cells are inside it. I'm thinking 15 cells x 1.2v = 18v. Could I charge it with the Triton?

Yes, you only need to know the type and not the number of cells. Charge from the main menu.

I thought you need to know how many cells so the peak detection would work.

No, it uses a setting (per cell) so it is automatic. Mine usually stays at 5 mv.
