You're looking at a 10-turn triple...Are you looking for less bottom end? A triple wind will be a bit of a dog on bottom end, but scream up top.

From what I have seen and read, a 10 turn motor would be the minimum recommended for off road. I am probably totally off course with that. What would you guys recommend then? I know everyone goes on about Reedy quad-mags, but which one? I would like a balanced motor, enough bottom end to get going, but a good strong top end for speed. I want to try beat my cousin's standard Nitro Hobao Hyper 7. He keeps on at me for not going nitro. I quite enjoy the scream of an electric motor. Also doesn't sound like a bunch of hornets trying to get at you.

Thanks again.

...and reasonably well priced too...Might just have to grab some next week...

...I must apologise too for the long abscence of posting in this thread but the whole frankenstein project of strengthening the car for the MabMax has become fun even though it is slightly fiddly...i got a glimpse of the possible speeds on the weekend with a mocked up car bound with red duct tape and even my old crumpled next door neighbour stopped weeding his garden for a rubber neck...

...I will try and have pics and video soon but lets just say that I may not NEED the Mamba because the AON 5400 had the buggy FLYING...And I know that means absolutley NOTHING without pictures etc but this one you can look forward to It wont dissapoint

I'm afraid this is off topic for the thread, but...

squeeguk - if you're just running around with it (bashing), and not racing - I think a 10T is overkill. I just run my cars around in our court, and my 19T x 1 Chameleon2 Pro is plenty for me - if I had more speed, I honestly don't know what I would do with it. Not enough space to run.

Maybe you've got more space and want it faster though. But yeah, lower the winds (go for a x2 or x1) and hit that lower end TQ for some bashing fun.

Yeah.. wonder when will those shocks hit rcMart?! Maybe I will place a big order then.... I guess Jason is pretty good too.. used him before.. and is fast and reliable..

Yeah, I am not sure if the Mamba 7700kv is the right fit for the Dark Impact.. wonder if I should just put my Sphere in the DI... and put the Mamba Max in one of my on-road cars... !

...no worries EMANN..Its all good...

...Boxxer I reckon the Di drivetrain would hold up to the lowest MabMax and STILL be fun if you know what i mean...still driveable and not an instant demolition derby...I had it on 5400kv (with an AON) and it was truly insane...The HPI MT dirtbonz seriously ballooned and it was just straight lines up and down the street...My front out-drives need replacing and i have a wicked plan to settle the steering (albeit slightly unorthodox) but i can just imagine the 7700 and the smile disappears from my face...

...Basically if i wanted a REALLY fast car I would run stocks cars on a REALLY big oval or straightline dragsters...IMO a buggy is a go-here-go-there vehicle which you want to drive around and jump and corner...Between you and me I would be wary of the 7700 in this buggy...And dont run the 7700 in a stock buggy Heavy-Dutyize what you can BEFORE you attempt the MambaMax...

...Deepest apologies if this bursts your bubble but i would rather have you with a fast stable buggy than a plastic bag full of bits

Understand.. I know the fastest isn't always the best way to go.. that's why I said that I might not put the Mamba Max in the buggy..

The reason why I got the Mamba is simply because I want to try out the sensorless technology.. I got a Sphere/Neo combo and it is pretty nice.. even with the 1-Star (slowest), it is still pretty darn fast.. esp. I put it in my Lunchbox, ha ha! I might move that to my DI.. and try the Mamba in the on-road car... we will see...

DI will get here on Friday.. Mamba Max, no idea.. whenever Tower gets the shipment, I guess!

...I knew you knew It was one of those 'whoever wants to listen' public rants..lol...

...I REALLY want to get my hands on the ESC now though Might get a little crowded in the tub but should be all good once it is all wired up...The mamba 25 ESC gets the job done but it will be good to have a proper 1:10 unit in there...I think we should be able to gear it down nicely too and keep it much cooler...ok I am going to bed...Pics tomorrow hopefully...

How's the gearing choice for DI if you don't do any conversion? (I know people who put AE slipper in it, etc.) Does the kit comes with multiple pinion / spur combo so you can change the gearing, etc.?
