Can anyone tell me please how tight the diffs should be?

I have melted two diffs because i think they have been too tight?

Too loose. You should also tighten the diff regularly. Specially on Lipo and BL power

I think I have done something a little differant with my set up... I am running a hub that takes 64 pitch spurs that fit most pinions for the 5mm shaft motors I run.

Surely someone else Is doing this? Nobody Is running a 5mm shaft motor???

Cheers for the diagnosis. I have done some research and found some info on how tight the ball diff should be and i did indeed have it too loose, even though i thought it was tight enough.

Thanks again.

I may have confused the mod1 with the 32 pitch.Opps.... Anyway close enough. I have run these pinions with 64 spur on this DI and a rs4. I looks all wrong but It works. e-mail the site owner and ask him.

My DI kit arrived from Hong Kong yesterday minus the ESC that was described in the eBay listing
I knew the ESC is not supplied in the kit, but it was in the listing so I sent an email to the seller asking him where it was.
He said it was a listing error and that it is not supplied in the kit, but he will send me one anyway
Not that I really need it as I have the sidewinder combo on its way in the post

Anyway I,m looking through the instructions and as you all know, the rear diff assembly is built first.
I see that it is telling you to CA the diff plates (MK6), however I notice that it does NOT tell you to CA
the diff plates when building the front diff assembly. Is that right, as it seems strange to CA one diff and not the other?

Also are there any other places I should CA or locktight whilst building? If I am right, the only place I can see CA mentioned
in the build instructions is when building the rear diff.

Oh, and another question - I have the slip clutch kit also - which pinion/spur ratio is best to use with the 4600kv sidewinder
combo?
Cheers,
Texy

you should probably try the gear supplied with the slipper. its like 81 or something? 82 maybe? and if its not hot step to the 78 and if it is step to the 85.

how does that work out? the 64 spur with the 32 pinion? i just dont see how it could work! and what motor are you running? and where can i get the hub? is it useable with the slipper?

What other rims will fit on the DF-03 Chassis? Im havin major issues with wheels here Looking at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/3Racing-TAMIYA-DF-03-5-Spoke-Tyre-Rim-Set-Black_W0QQitemZ160242608567QQihZ006QQcategoryZ34061QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD4VQQcmdZViewItem

for an upgrade... hoping these have more clearance than the stocks, but dont want to wait 2 weeks or more and spend 50 bucks on these shipped to the US if they WONT work... I may have to suck it up and just modify these YR Arms... Don't want to but may have to Dammit all.

Sounds off but, The teeth line up while rolling the gears and this Is my second car running these type gears without any damage to either gears. FDM sells the 5mm hub for a boat tranny... I did my research on this one. Trail and error!

I run NEU and feigiao motors. It's all about the kv... I can run a $60 motor and a $60 dollor esc If I want and run with any Mamba max, novak or lrp set up. I prefer NEU motors.

the slipper on my rs4 worked. It depends on differant specs. The one thing I do not like about the DI Is there Is not alot of adjustment of the motor for taller gears until I found the lower tooth pinions with the 5mm shaft.

The reason for the glue on the rear diff is because it has two piece diff joint and the part that the diff plates go on is plastic. I would get steel replacements for these asap as the plastic won't last long with a brushless setup. My suggestion would be to get the square diff joint (*LINK*) and put them in the front and then use the standard kit ones in the rear. The square ones are more expensive than others but they have lasted heaps longer in my car
