It bends very easily, but has yet to warp or break for me. and the only thing that might need to be replaced plastic wise for racing are the shock towers. You can pick up graphite ones for like $12-$15

the red light just keeps flashing. i pressed the set button many times.. still just flashing

tom_chang79 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/25/2008 6:58:40 AM)

That KM-chassis DF-03 looks trick! I'm currently working on my DF-03MS with the 3Racing chassis. To my surprise, the 3Racing products are HIGH QUALITY. I had to keep reminding myself that this product came from Hong Kong and not Japan while I was looking at it...

Tower Hobbies has one of the highest prices for this car, for all your DF-03MS kit and accessories, I recommend Stellamodels and RC Mart. Also, RC-Mall has all the GPM accessories you can ever need, and RC-Mall has cheaper prices on GPM goods then RCmart. Links provided below for all of you DF-03 fans:

HIGHLY RECOMMEND STELLA, she is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST in shipping. I live in California. Ordered my stuff on Monday, got it on Thursday! Holy fast-shipping Batman! I love this lady!
http://www.stellamodels.net/catalog/default.php

Has more variety of DF-03 parts then anyone else on the net. RCmart is pretty famous for carrying Yeah Racing, GPM, TopCad, and 3Racing stuff for DF-03 and other Tamiyas. I highly recommend 3Racing goodies, they are high quality...

Possible GPM storefront? GPM's customer service was very friendly. Have been in email contact with Queenie Tsang of GPM. She is fluent in English and very helpful. But here is a place to buy it online with Paypal:

How did you get this photo frugalman? I thought Jimmy hasn't posted anything about his "Ultimate Hawk" project yet! Can you link me to an article if he has it up?

Regarding your TEU-101bk, not sure. I don't have much experience with that ESC... Have you tried to recalibrate it with the transmitter (as if you were turning it on for the first time)?

streetracer745 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/25/2008 11:34:20 PM)

You better get some pics up fast tom Im anxious to see this thing! I still am in the hunt for near indesrtuctable diffs... I cant keep them locked because I strip gears too often. Was thinking a front oneway but that wont help the stripping probably... atleast not up front... I am dropping my 3s since it blew up. only be running 2s but still on a MM 5700

tom_chang79 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/26/2008 8:49:58 AM)

Will do, I'm waiting for my parts from the USPS, seems like they have attempted "delivery" and left the notice buried deep in my mailbox :( Will have to pick up these last few parts, one of which is the most critical, GPM front lower gear box, which should make my front end nearly bullet proof.

The rear end is done, I bought both the aluminum shock tower and the carbon fiber one, chose to use the carbon fiber one for now, until it breaks (pray that it doesn't :) ), then switch to aluminum if it does...

GPM's front lower gear box is THE most critical item IMO.

A little question, does anyone here know where to get Five Star 7051 - Front and Rear Aluminum Brace? The only store I found was an ebay page in Spain, but for the life of me, I can't read Spanish!

I know that they sell carbon fiber front brace, but an aluminum would make it truly bullet-proof. This Five Stars parts comes with both the front and rear:

[image]http://img.inkfrog.com/pix/jr-rc/fs7051akusush.jpg[/image]

I already have 3Racing rear brace, but it's kinda weird how 3Racing never made the fronts. I wouldn't mind buying this set for the fronts...

Also, how are you guys protecting your chassis? Are you guys using any chassis tape at all? I'm thinking about buying an undertray for a similar car and just trim it to fit, just can't figure out which car the chassis most closely resembles...

J.D.T -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/26/2008 12:34:33 PM)

email champ rc about that five stars piece

http://64.233.179.104/translate_c?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.rc-champ.co.jp/Champ_International/International_index.htm&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dchamp%2Brc%26hl%3Den&usg=ALkJrhg7qj67rlFcPStnjCE8_wPiscu3YQ

I have not seen an undertray yet but I would bet someone in japan has them

J.D.T -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/26/2008 12:53:53 PM)

for anyone wanting a stock layout carbon fibre kit the xenon is the way to go

http://www.redrc.net/2007/05/xenon-racing-tamiya-df-03-converison/

champ rc can get you this also(link above)

streetracer745 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/26/2008 8:59:43 PM)

That seems like a pretty cool chassis. Looks like it has some plastic on the bottom to keep it from getting torn up as well which is a good idea. Where can we get them?

tom_chang79 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/26/2008 11:12:33 PM)

The Xenon chassis is pretty trick, I've been checking it out for a while before I bought the 3Racing one. I think the chassis is of higher quality but it'll cost you a pretty penny for that chassis, I've contacted Xenon directly, and they sell it for 15,800 yen, which roughly translates to $144. You can buy two 3Racing chassis with that kind of money and just stack the two chassis together for a 6mm carbon fiber! The price was a little too steep for my blood.

Everything Japan is of slightly higher quality then the stuff from HK, but you're paying through the nose for them. When AE gets their plastic from Taiwan these days (Thunder Tiger), and their stuff is considered top notch, it's hard for me to pay a Japanese price for equivalent parts if that part isn't unique (like the Five Stars).

Check out the 3Racing stuff, they are really high quality. They are machined pretty well and their carbon fiber is excellent quality...

Fishie36 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/27/2008 3:47:35 AM)

Got some pics for you guys of the hopups I posted earlier. Not only does this look nice... it helps out a lot with dissipating the motor heat, instead of the plastic cover that traps it in.

That's a nice looking Dark Impact stadium truck... I guess that mod is pretty popular eh?

Here are some Preliminary pics of my DF-03MS. Will list all the hop-up and upgrades after it's finished:

Well, I don't know about stadium truck... all I really did was slap on huge tires [:)]

Anyway, nice looking MS! [:D] I can't wait to see that thing when it's finished.

streetracer745 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/27/2008 10:47:23 PM)

[X(][X(][X(] holy crap that thing is sick! I wish I had the money to blow on a good CF chassis and all the blingin aluminum stuff...

*edit, actually does anyone know which red svarek used ?

tom_chang79 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/28/2008 4:26:48 AM)

Does anyone know which sway bar (anti-roll bar) kit works with this car? There's obvious provision for it, but I don't see a DF-03 kit for it...

streetracer745 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/28/2008 10:35:01 PM)

There was a company that I only saw on ebay. It was called The Barz I think? I dont see them on ebay now but you could probably find it on froogle or google... I was thinking of making some at one point...

Just looked on yahoo and found them.

http://www.bahrz.com/

tom_chang79 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (8/31/2008 1:03:12 AM)

Thanks for that link. Looks like that is exactly what I was looking for, but too bad they don't seem to make any more... I'm going send them an email to see if they are still making the bars for the DF-03s...

Does anyone know what Five Stars' address is for their online page? I can't find it for the life of me...

tom_chang79 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (9/2/2008 8:07:22 AM)

I contacted Adam from www.bahrz.com. He's kitted one for me since I showed interest in buying one. Contact him and I'm sure he'll kit another one up for you guys.

Regarding the Five Stars page, it doesn't exist. Strange how in the year 2008 that companies doesn't have their own domain...

J.D.T -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (9/2/2008 1:10:39 PM)

I am sure there is a five stars page somewhere but good luck on that as we even tried typing it into google in Japanese, another is Option 1, very nice stuff but harder than heck to find, very limited array of parts but everything is great, more than likely they have a df 03 undertray as my df 02 one came from them via Jason's store on ebay a long time ago.
I agree that in this day and age they probably got some english speaking/reading/writing webhead person allready working for them that could set up an english page in a second, we forget however the US is only a tiny pimple on the butt of the world rc market, if they can sell 200,000 undertrays in japan every year they probably ain't so worried about the 1200 the americans would buy lol. The five stars stuff first appeared to the guys I know 6-7 years ago via a on road race shop in california that is old school tamiya faithful and always has lots of different options for its racers.
Square and tobee have pages you can find and quite honestly thats why between me and 3-4 other guys we have owned at least half the option part they have ever built for tamiya cars.

tom_chang79 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (9/6/2008 12:20:23 AM)

CHAMP RC in Tokyo carries parts for the Five Stars. But you made a good point, without exposing your products to the world, no one will buy it because no one knows that it exists. My DF-03 is loaded with GPM and 3Racing products because those parts were available from four vendors that I know of... Five Stars front was found on one page on the internet, it was a an auction listing on Spanish Ebay...

streetracer745 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (9/21/2008 2:37:30 AM)

So I have to ask the age old question again... Does anyone know if you can upgrade the diffs? Like a kit to do it? I know I could get some nice nitride diff balls and better 2mm nuts and stuff but Will that keep the diffs from comming loose? And both mine are done right now. Somehow the nuts striped. I went to tighten my diffs and they didnt do anything...

streetracer745 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (9/26/2008 12:22:49 AM)

Nobody? What happened did the df just die to yall?

wingate -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (10/20/2008 2:40:01 AM)

Fishie36 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (10/25/2008 8:29:01 PM)
