Nice and short[:D] I still have two fried diffs... My LHS cant get hardly any tamiya parts either so i have to order everythign from tamiya directly... Anyone know where to get diff kits?

derek2005 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (10/26/2008 5:45:50 AM)

Do you have the metal diffs on front and rear? Most people replaced the plastic diff with the metal one. I purchased mine on ebay through jason's store and rc-mart as well as a few other places. I do need to get better balls though. Light thread locker on the diff screw will keep it in place a little better.

Do you have the slipper as well. It will help on wear and tear of the drive train. It is a good investment.

streetracer745 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (10/26/2008 3:42:26 PM)

Yes I have the slipper. And I had the stock outdrives. I dont know of what steel diffs your talking about unless your talking about the 3racing outdrives. Because thats just the outdrive not the diff itself...

Fishie36 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (10/27/2008 4:24:33 AM)

In regards to the car in the video I posted, the drive train is mostly stock. The only thing I really did was take out the balls in the rear diff and J&B weld it solid. No slipper. Also I have universal drive shafts in the back because I was twisting the heads off the dogbones (I've even broken the main pin in a universal before too).

Basically where it broke, I made it stronger.

Is the 4600 sidewinder ok to put in this car? does it run hot on the 4600 5700 and what would be a good gearing to run thanks

streetracer745 -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (11/13/2008 3:47:54 AM)

That should run great in your DI. I run a 5700MM on 2 and 3s with 26/85 gearing. It runs pretty warm but a 4600 should be cooler. I can't recomend a specific gearing for you though.

Hi there,
thankyou for the offer.

Web site is: http://www.petitrc.com/view_news.php?id=4622

You'll find it under Tamiya DF03/ Dark Impact of cause. damper oil , camber , spur and pinion are easy enough. I have no hope with the rest.

Does anybody if there any other setup sheets out there? EA have plenty for my B4 but there's not much for the DI

Regards col

littleleon -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (12/3/2008 4:59:02 AM)

thanks for that Mate. I'll have a look and post up what I can in a little while.
Cheers

littleleon -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (12/3/2008 6:19:27 AM)

ok.. I'll do the sheet dated 2007/5/30.

Front

Height: 24mm
Camber: -1
Toe: 0
Front Drive: Diff
Stabiliser: None
Damper: TRF501 Type Aeration (I'm not familiar with this shock)
Spring: TRF501 Type Yellow
Oil: Team Associated 35
Piston: W4
Inner Spacer: 2mm

Rear

Height: 24mm
Camber: -1
Stabiliser: None
Damper: TRF501 Type Aeration (I'm not familiar with this shock)
Spring: TRF501 Type Red
Oil: Team Associated 30
Piston: W4
Inner Spacer: 1mm
Wing Position: Lower

Center Drive: One-Way
Slipper: Team Associated B4 Use 48p

Front Tyre: LOSI Blockhead Red.
Front Inner: Tyre Attachment (I think that means it came with the tyre)
Front Wheel: Large Dish 6 holes

Rear tyre: LOSI X2000 Red
Rear Inner: Tyre Attachment.
Rear Wheel: Large Dish 6 holes

Motor: LUNA 10TW
Pinion: 22(48p)
Spur: 81(48p)

Body: Zenega
Wing: Azarashi round

Note:
Fr-A 1 tapered washer
Fr-B standard
The rear damper end is made by HPI
The length of the damper is extended using A318 (?)
A one cm cut is made on the side of the front wing nose
Leave 1 cm on the lip of the rear wing.
A cooling hole for the body is open completely.
A MuchMore cooling fan is used the the direction to suck the heat out.

and I'm sorry, I couldn't really make out the last couple of notes.
Either they do or do not use a protective sheet under the chassis, and there's something about a Gap being extended when there's not much grip.... didn't make much sense to me.

There you have it.

Simon.O. -> RE: Official Dark Impact Thread (12/3/2008 8:33:25 AM)

Well I got my DI at last.
Second hand from the local on-line Auction site.
Box stock plus a sport tuned can.
I have since put my 23t Tamiya Superstock RZ motor in there with the 26t pinion and the 85t spur. It moves out well.
Power is from GP3300's or for a real laugh I put in my IB4200's out of my rigger.

After 2 days I broke a front dog-bone ( spectacular crash) so now it is rear wheel drive for a week while I find some new shafts.
Rwd plus wet ashphalt is an absolute hoot to drive on. Even in the dry it is a bit of a handfull.
I have read this thread from page 1 so at the moment have no questions.

I love my DI.............for now.
