In my opinion the best heli to start flying is the Walkera 5 or similar.

Have fun!

I think the Dragonfly 5-4 is a great little heli, I have two! I also have a Dragonfly 10,and an Esky Lama v3. The lama is a little better in the electronics but both are pretty good machines to start with.

I went with a blade cp. I know not a good choice for a beginer but I told my self to take it easy. Ive had it for 2 days and I can only hover about 2-3 in. off the ground, dont have the balls go really go up yet, but I'm working on keeping it stable. It is tricky for a beginner but man is it fun.

If you hover it about 4-5 foot it hovers way better than down low.

AGREE. If you hover it higher in the air, you should have a better control

Hey STUNT, I also bought the CP as my first ever and yes, it might have been a mistake as a trainer, but I'm learning. I also can only hover it above the ground a few inches, then things go hay wire. How is it coming for you? Any tips? Does anyone have any tips. I have the training gear thank God. Any help will be appreciated.

On a perfect day? Both. On a real day? Neither.

A sim will teach more than any CX heli ever will (thats my opinnion). And it won't become useless just about ever (unlike a CX).

Mine was total crap, did the checks, when i lifted off the plastic tip at the top broke and caused it to crash, and I havent been
able to get it to fly yet. A $200 pile of junk.

The CX stands for coaxial rotors. There are two sets of rotor blades that spin in opposite direction (on the same shaft). As long as both are spinning equally fast, they cancel eachothers torque. To pirouette you lessen the power on one while increasing it on the other.

Also, as i said, you increase power or decrease power to pirouette but this also is how you change lift, since CX are fixed pitch blades. Slower spinning blades make you decrease altitude, faster spinning blades make you gain altitude. This makes them slower at recovering (in emergencys flying low) since they have to speed up the blades to gain lift (as compared to increasing pitch which is nearly instantaneous). Also it makes them pretty much incapable of fast flight (since they cannot dynamically alter the blade pitch), they are pretty much limited to hovering or slow movement.

the closer to the ground the heli is the more wind turb from the blades, blowing it aroung and making it harder to fly. go a little higher and it should smoth out

The TRex looks like a good chopper that you can grow with, the Blade CX is just too limited.

Hey havent been around much sorry. Not going too bad I followed radds school of rotary flight. made me more comftable. Flying bout 2 weeks (some of that time was waiting for parts) but I can hover about 5'-6' for almost a whole batt now. Get disoriented and have to put it down still here and there but. Only tips I gan give are make sure chopper is set up right (gyro gain, proportion, blade balance, cg, tracking). Follow radds school, then go outside where you have room. Practise and you will get it.

I, too, am looking for the best helicopter to learn to fly. I have heard and read the most recommendations on the E-Flight Blade CX, while others have suggested the Hirobo XRB (wireless), and even a few have mentioned the E-Flight Blade CP as well. I am hoping to purchase my new heli tommorrow, so if any could respond this evening with feedback I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
