i read all the threads about cyclers, about the sirius, and the others. my problem is that i only need a drainer with a auto cutoff that is adjustable for different configuration packs. i am getting into electics and i already have packs with 2,3,4,6,7, and 10 cells with capacities of 110 to 2000 mah in both nicad and nimh. the sirius test may be great, but i would like to try to find one that has a little more range if at all possible to cut down on storage space (and money).

thanks all

With the wide range of batteries that you are using. There is no single discharger to handle all of those batteries. Your best bet is to get a Supernova or Superturbo or the equivelant. You need a charger that can cycle a wide range of cells. The review that Red gave comparing the SuperNova against the SuperTurbo. He found the Superturbo has an edge over the SuperNova. The Superturbo is only 109 dollars............which is not bad for a cycle\charger that handles almost every pack size.

I have the Sirius Pro and the Sirius Battery Tester, both are top notch units. The Battery Tester only works with 4,5 and 8 cell packs. Too bad they didnt include at least 7 cell batteries.

Thanks for the reply. I had already purchased a charger before I was told about this wonderful forum. The local hobby shop in the town where I live has fallen off the ball since the owner has semi-retired and I was forced to drive 50 miles to a nearby town with a decent hobby shop. They recomended and I purchased an Ace R/C Smart charger that is working great and is supposed to eliminate battery memory by "burping" the oxygen off the cells. I made an adaptor to charge the battery on my rechargable flashlight (Streamlight Stinger) and have noticed that i am getting a little more battery life and it is getting slightly brighter. It's still not quiet as bright or long lasting as a new battery pack, but it is better than it was.

What I am looking for is just the discharger part to use with this charger if possible. I have a few schematics to build my own and have found several commercially built units that do specific configurations, but I was hoping for a variable discharge unit with adjustable shut off. I guess that is too much to hope for.

Thanks again for any info
