Hi,

I have an Optic 6 and I am having as problem figuring out the the throttle cut programming. My Optic 6 is set to MODE 1.

To program it, I put the throttle stick to low throttle, I then go to the THROTTLE CUT menu item and can adjust between -50 or +50. However, the throttle will only go in one direction when I push the throttle cut button, that is, to more throttle, no matter where I set the adjustment.

I'll have to check, but I think the throttle servo is set to REVERSE.

Can anyone thell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Fly4Fun,

Wayne Miller

You've tried both -50 and +50 positions? Utilizing one or the other should change the servo "cut" direction movement.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for getiing back to me.

Yes, I have tried both, when at -50% movement stops when I push the button, as I move up the percentage (to +50%) I get more movement. The movement is always in the same direction.

Any other ideas that may help? I'm willing to try other ideas.

Fly4Fun,

Wayne Miller

It's possible you have an early revision Optic; look for the software revision number by scrolling through the advanced menu features a "revision number" should be noted. Unfortunately I don’t recall specifically if your symptom was an issue I’ll to see if I can find some notes on same.

The Optic’s software was updated after a few anomalies were recognized; Hitec Service will perform the update free of charge.

Hi Michael,

I did a search before I posted and only came up with one problem, that problem booted you out of the software when programming certain values. It did not seem to be related to the throttle cut. However, I must admit, I find the searches here on RCU a little over whelming and return too many posts. If you find anything more, I would really appreciate knowing about it.

Thanks for your help, and also any information anyone else can give on this problem.

Fly4Fun,

Wayne Miller

I too own an Optic 6 & am very happy with the unit. I have two models set up in my Tx's memory & I am experiencing the throttle cut situation as you describe. Due to the way I have set up my models (engine specific), the throttle channel on one model is "normal" & the other requires the throttle channel to be "reversed". And it is on this "reversed channel" throttle setting that when you press the Throttle Cut button, the carby actually opens up rather than closes.

So it seems I will need to pay more attention when I build my future models to make sure the throttle channel will be set to "normal' rather than "reverse". However, the software should be able to determine the deliberate "reversing" by the operator & re-align the throttle cut feature to work as intended.

Hi Bone,

I did some experimenting, and found the same thing as you. Thanks for the information. It sounds like a bug in the program.

I wonder if its fixes in the new software update?

Hello Wayne,

Yes, this is something to be aware of. It can be rather alarming pushing the throttle cut button & the engine rpm roars higher - the problem in my case is remembering which aircraft this affects . I'm not sure whether it's a bug in the program or a simple oversight by the designers. It's a relatively minor gripe overall but it does have potential safety concerns.

I do not know offhand which version of the software I have in my Tx. Will check it tonight & report back in a separate post.

Hi Bone,

I found that if you program the THROTTLE CUT OFF to -50%, it is disabled. So to avoid it accidently speeding up, just program it to -50%.

Thanks for all the information.

I had a problem with TCUT and throttle channel EPA. I copied my model configuration to an unused location, then back to the original location from the just copied configuration. Doing that apparently reinitializes the model memory, and vola, TCUT and EPA worked fine. There's probably a glitch in the sw, but this work around seemed to work fine.

I do have a problem with the REST command, however. When invoked, it doesn't reset all items in the memory location, specifically the model NAME.

if i remember correctly...heres what i did to solve that problem which i had on mode 2.

1. set the throttle trim all the way down to -50% instead of the manual recommended -25%.
2. mechanically set up the carb barrel so it is closed at this position.
3. check servo throw all thru the range and adjust as needed....mechanically. i only fine tune thru the tx.
4. set tcut + or -- depending on servo direction..

have fun....

Hi Michael,

Were you able to find any notes(see below), and if this was specific to any revision number?

Hi Michael,

Thanks.

I've checked the Hitec web site but can't find any reference as to what firmware had what fixes. Anything you can find will be appreciated.
