TimC -> Powermaster Issue Resolved? (4/9/2006 8:30:54 PM)

After reading a recent thread asking if the Powermaster underfilling of cans issue was resolved, I got curious. I had a new bottle of Omega and an unopened can of Powermaster. I marked the level on the Omega jug and emptied it, then re-filled it with the new can of Powermaster. Either Omega is giving more than a gallon, or Powermaster is still coming up short. There is a possibility this can of Powermaster was old stock that somehow was only put out for sale last winter.

This was long ago put to rest.

This was this morning with a can of Powermaster bought in January this year.

Why not find the original thread and call the Powermaster rep who gave full contact info and asked to be contacted?

You might get yourself a measuring cup and pour EXACTLY one gallon into a bottle and see where a gallon really is. 128 Oz to a Gallon. 16 oz to a pint and 8 pints to a gallon.

I have no idea if there is a problem. If I was a Powermaster customer, and was concerned about being shorted, I would buy a calibrated vessel and measure my fuel. If it was short I would pick up the phone and call Powermaster.

I have seen many bottles of fuel on LHS shelves that vary in fill level by the amount in the picture above. I’ll admit that I’d choose the fuller bottles over the others. That’s one advantage to buying a brand that is sold in bottles.

I guess you could accurately fill a can of Powermaster and weigh it on a good scale. Then, take the scale to the LHS and only buy cans that are full based on weight.

Gary, I went back and re-read the original thread and saw that it was created in Sept. of last year. It could well be that the hobby shop where I bought this can in January buys in such a large quantity that they are still selling stock bought before the problem was corrected. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3155915/anchors_3155915/mpage_1/key_Powermaster/anchor/tm.htm#3155915
