Although a bit heavy, any thoughts on a G62 for the 85" Yak?

If you don't mind 18-19 pounds and severe losses in aerobatic performance, it would be fine.

Hello gibb,

Well the weight is on heavy side but this plane originally was designed for 3W50 which is a heavy engine in its class. Best performance is achived by DA50! I have one and it flies extremely light, less than 16 lbs with DA50. You'll be adding 1 1/2lbs so you'll be around 17-17 1/2lbs still will be a good plane but you need to make sure you don't make it heavier by other things like using unnecessary add ons. I think you are fine.

Thank you,
Reza

You could always send the G62 to rcignitions and have Ralph make a G62 lite out of it...

the best perfomance is accieve with a 3w 75 us with 24x10 prop and the palne still in 16 lb , I have over 200 flight with mine and is still great , i had a DA 50 in the beginning but for my opinion is not enought power , is nice have the extra power specially when you get of a hover the plane just shoot straight up like a rocket , with da 50 it take 2 3 second before the plane start to take speed , g62? go for it , the qq 85 can handle the extra weight and love the extra power , enjoy

Hi gabriele ,

Very nice pic and nice set up. As you mentioned correctly QQ Yak 85" can handle engine upto 75cc as long as they are not on the heavy side or twin cylinders! But both Quique and I think that DA50 is absolutely an awesome choice for this plane. Plane flys light and with more than enough power to spare. I have been flying mine with DA50 and it has shown extremely good performance with tons of extra power. We are happy that you like our Yak and we wish you all the best.

this is the best plane ever , my plane with the 75us weight 16.6 pound , I fly imac so with a 24x10 or fuchs 22x12 3 blade prop i can keep the rpm and noise really down and stil have a lot of stability and speed , 3d is unbelivable

G.B.
