Just picked up two Common Sense 3 cell 2000ma 10C lipos and the Blinky they recommend to balance them. The instructions on the Blinky leave much to be desired. The way I understand it the AstroFlight Blinky matches the balance plug on the CS lipo EXACTLY? I see reference to needing to move a wire on a 3 cell pack for the balance plug to match up? Also, this Blinky says it will balance a pack before, during, or after a charge? I'm using a Celectra lipo charger. What is the recommended time to hitch the Blinky up to the lipo...before the charge, after, or while charging? And what is the exact sequence of events to do so while charging? Meaning, do I plug the battery into the charger, start the charge, then plug the Blinky in? Should I use Blinky before the charge and then after to insure best cell life? Also, I'd like to add a matching balance plug to my 3 cell dymond lipos for use with the Blinky. I'm handy with a soldering iron but would prefer a link to the proper wiring diagram for the 3 cells to match the balancing plug.

First, plug the blinky onto the charge connector on the pack. Then connect your charger and begin the charging process. You can easily determine which is the positive pin (located at one end of the connector) and which is the negative pin (located at the other end of the connector) with your digital volt meter. The circuit board of the Blinky identifies which is the positive end pin and which is the negative. Follow the instructions and plug the negative pin on the connector onto the negative pin on the Blinky.

Call me if you need help.

Thanks for the info but figured it all out last night. Very happy with Blinky but the instructions leave MUCH to be desired. Anybody confused about the Blinky balancer check out the E-Flite Power sources forum in the RC Electric planes forums section. A few people cleared things up for me.

I have a blinky also...same issues as above. Now all I get with this device is a yellow lite. Whats up with that? I think I need a replacement. Is the warentee good? Do they plan to make a more durable one in a aluminum case...instead of clear shrink wrap. Thanks Capt.n

Here are the instructions for the Blinky.. Do you have our Ultra Balancer or a Blinky? http://www.astroflight.com/pdfs/106.pdf

If you could give me some info on it real quick, we can get it taken care of without a return. Just need to know a couple things -

* What model of balancer do you have?
* Did it ever work, or was it bad from the start? Has it EVER worked?
* What brand of batteries are you using?

You may just have some thing that's not compatible, in which case sending you a new one would just take us back to square one.

Tram, on back side of unit it has www.commonsencerc.com. Also found paper for it. It is a Ulta-Balancer pat # UB26 The first 2 Lipos (Vislero) after not to long started getting fat. I had to get to get new ones. The ones now are Lite Storm 3S 1200Ah. I do not want to wreck my new ones. As for working...I would say somewhat...but the balancer would get too warm...and I would have to unplug it. Oh by the way, the last time I tried it...it smelled funny and was again hot. I can post photo of the first 2 Lipo packs...they look 1.5 times thicker!! Capt,n The pdf files would not open to read.
