Ya' know...if that's him that ain't bad...
It takes more than a few lessons in a Cessna 150 to handle a Mustang.
Especially in a formation takeoff.

Not to be nit-picky but Cruise's Mustang was built in '44 and is actually a fairly rare survivor in that it was originally built as an F6 recon bird. Here is a run-down of her history in civilian hands.

Not unless Tom Cruise is a screen name and hs real name is actually something else.

The P51 takes a "Letter of Authorization" or "LOA" to operate and there is not one for a "Tom or Thomas Cruise". Plane is probably owned under an LLC or S-corp so would be no use of traking it that way.

No biggie, Ive head the pleasure of stick time in a 51 and wish I hadnt. I always dreamed of the day and when it came I was faced with the reality that its a 60yr old airplane and it handles as such. If I hadnt ever done it then my dream would still be out of this world. The one plane that I have flown and thought WOW about was a T28 with the R1820 1425hp. It handles nice without all the bad tendencies and has gobbs of power.

I think Stallion51 operates crazyhorse and that would be a great place to go get a ride. Full scale aircraft are not "that" expensive. I dont see why some of these guys on here flying $5000+ aerobatic planes and jets just dont go get something that they can plant thier butt into.

As for the statement above about the little rich brats, tell me about it. I have a close friend that operates a new citation X for a 22yr old girl here in Dallas. (for thos non GA buffs out there thats about 8 times the cost of a mustang and twice as fast)

An LOA is not always required for a P-51.
Many of the P-51s are licensed "Limited" not "experimental". If it is Limited, an LOA is not required, only the experimental-exhibition P-51 require an LOA.
If you can satisfy your insurance company, you can fly a Limited P-51 with a Private Pilot certificate plus the high performance and tailwheel logbook sign offs.

Interesting,

Most I have seen in my area seem to always have the "experimental" on the inner canopy rail. Its amazing how many you see. I know of 3 here in Dallas alone. Use to be more down in this area but it seems like they keep getting damaged or balled up. The one I got a ride in went in up at KDTO a long long time ago while he was taking another guy for a joy ride. I have the compass out of that plane sitting here on a book shelf by my computer.
