How do the above four strokes compare in terms of performance? I'm just about to start a new project and really like the appeal of the size + weight of the YS, but not sure if its performance is up to that of the OS.

They will be very close in terms of performance. The YS 63 is rated at 1.5 hp, and the OS 91 is rated at 1.6 hp, so it's up to your personal preference. The OS 91 might be cheaper in the long run because it doesn't require expensive YS 20/20 fuel.

Y-S engines run rather well on 15% Power Master, Wildcat, Cool Power etc.

The OS Surpass II will run a lot better on 20-20 too.

The Saito 72 runs mighty close to the same as the Y-S 63.

Oh that Y-S 63 runs sooo smoooth and throttles soo welll.

Such low idle, never quits.

Yep, the YS 63 is one awesome engine. I have one in a VQ Zero, and that thing just hauls a$$. The engine runs so good and has such a nice, stable idle. I also have two great running Saito 72's, one in a P-51D and the other in an ME-109 (they're in my gallery). Neither one of my Saito's come close to the performance of my YS 63.

Well I'm finally sold on the YS 63. What prop would you recommend and is the any preference for type of engine mount (I intend to mount my engine horizontal).

Thanks again.

I'm having good luck with a Graupner 12x7 prop spinning at 11,200 rpm. Any glass filled nylon engine mount will do.
