i got the swashplate in the right spot and have almost dialed in the length of the bell links(0325). but now i am having issues with the heli spinning to the left, is this something that can be fixed? i have the trim all the way over to the right and have the stick all the way over too and it still spins to the left.

Hey again chuckmfnnorris,

Sorry it took so long for me to answer. Is this spinning a slow yawing or a fast uncontrollable well, spinning, in a CCW direction and quickly upon takeoff? Or is their a delay when you can take off and hover before it begins this rotation?

Hey again chuckmfnnorris,

Firstly, check to make sue that the two screws which go into the lower gear (A) are tightened ONTO THE FLAT SPOTS on shaft A (centre shaft). Remove battery. You may have to totally remove the centre shaft again, but if you are careful you can back out the two screws and twist the shaft until the end of it comes out of the gear - line the flat spots up with an area that you can get a screwdriver into and put the gear (in the appropriate orientation) back - slide the shaft in and tighten the screws. You can crank down these two screws tight 'cause of a metal-metal contact - but I wouldn't until you try it again to see if that solved the problem.

Peter
P.S. Don't forget to center your trims again before trying it.......

its a ccw spin and it starts at takeoff, with the trim set all the way to the right it slows it down but still spins, its not a fast spin but it won't stop and everything is tightened and in place.

Hey again chuck,

Try running original blades. If it's fixed by the blades not being aftermarket ones - please tell me. If not, try adjusting 4in1. Here are the most concise instructions I know of (GTX_Slotcar - post #9 Esky Lama4 Thread)

i just found out why you recommend not to use the blade grips from the metal head set. i had to go back and take all the metal headset apart and put all the plastic back except for the swashplate.. now i have to re-tune the servos. when i get my turbo shaft i will be sure to use some loc-tite.

Has anyone ever tried putting larger blades on a v3. (Yes I know it's likely a recipe for disaster....but.....)

My boss have finally given up on his digittronics Walkera 53Q....it's mostly destroyed now as he kept lying it outside due to lack of indoor flying space in his house. (So he went out and bought a Blade 400....

But I'd be curious to try his blades on my v3....just to see what would happen......

when i first got my v3 i went threw the blades quick and the closest hobby shop around had blades that were a good 3/4" longer, it did give better lift but it seamed to put more strain on the motors, once i got my extreme blades in the mail i switched them out.

Might want to check to see that your swash plate isn't bent. I'ts REALLY soft aluminium....Can't be more than T0. I noticed that mine was bent once and so my swashplate leveling was all out of whack

no its not bent, could it be a problem with the 4in1? before the crash i would tilt to the left, right, forward, backward and as soon as i let go of the stick it would level its self out, its not doing that anymore, as soon as i move the stick it tilts what ever direction the stick is but doesn't level its self out.

I'm not certain, but I don't think the 4 in 1 controls the cyclic really. The 4 in 1 is more to control the relative speeds of the counter rotating rotors.

If it's anything electrical, it would be a servo i think.

What happens if you just cycle the right hand stick around without the rotors turning?

it cycles fine without the blades running, and cycles fine with the blades running as far as i can tell while holding it level and bringing up the throttle.

Hmm. What if.....and I'm grasping at straws here....if you hold onto it, and spool it up enough so that it feels essentially weightless in your hand and then try the same experiment with the cyclic?

Hey again Mike,

Just got my computer up & running again -
I tried Big Lama-size AiryII blades on my Lama4 a while ago (see pic). These blades are the same size as 53Q blades (but 53Q blades look better). The lift was increased, but the motors were working harder (to keep the heavier blades spinning)... so unless you have 180 Bearing Motors such as the Xtreme, Supreme, or AFCSystem (and heatsinks) - they will overheat sooner than you battery will run out, so you might kill them!!

did some work to my v3 today. started with a new tail boom from extreme products, and a +8mm upper shaft. after getting the swashplate at the right height the links connecting to the servos were not long enough to stretch up so the heli would lean to the right and lean back even with the trims on the controller were all the way over. so what it did was take the servos and remove the arm from it and place it back on so they were about 20* higher than level, now i have it fully dialed so that the trims are all centered and it hovers perfect now. not bad for a newb huh.

What do you mean? I know that all of my problems are caused by a dwarf or possibly a small toad living inside my helicopter....and NOT caused by demons and evil spirits...because that would just be stupid.

Hey again Mike,

I was refering to the Toad - definitely not to you!
(I was actually refering to the newbies who ask questions when a previous post.....on the last page usually....told them the answer, and they were to lazy to read back or search for it...) There are heaps of examples for you of this practice on the lama4 thread!

It's late here (early morning) - I'm finally going to bed - I've been on call for 18 hours (does it show??? ) Z Z Z z z z z z z z z z

Wowie do the motors ever get hot.

I brought my hei to work today to try it in the shop/warehouse. I've never been able to fly it in one continuous flight as long as I did today. 2-3 mins. DAMN were they hot! Almost too hot to want to touch with your bare hand. I guess that's why you get the heat sinks eh?
