The Corona is good to excellent overall but liteMachines seems to be dropping the ball so to speak. I do believe they are still producing but seems like they are fizzing out. Some shops seemingly are not stocking the LMH parts anymore as in its glory days about two years ago. Ballistic technology is taking up the slack with exotic parts and upgrades and even a full cp and Fp heli based off the Corona.

If you're looking for a big FP heli, they're pretty much the only choice. Seem to be very popular birds too.

Corona is a great beginner heli. I do not recommend the LiteMachine 110 or 117 nitro, unless you get one cheap and convert it to a Corona.
I have a Honey Bee CP2 its great for the price but the Corona handles wind and crashes better with easy maintenance.

Well my Corona with my jgf 450 motor is up and hovering The jgf 450 is so small and lite and will hover at just over 1/2 throttle. I'm still learning my technique in the garage but Am getting better every day. I did hit a large plastis bucket 3 separate time and not one break. I couldn't have said that with my Shogun-it would have been $75 each time. With a 3s 1850 lipo I can just barely get the cg forward a hair without adding weights. All in all I am so pleased with the Corona so far. I'm also equally pleased with the belt drive kit I installed also-only down side is I don't have auto rotation capability anymore.

You would not be able to auto-rotate anyways on a fixed pitch helicopter. You need adjustable pitch to auto-rotate. The one way bearing was most likely there just to relieve stress on the gear train.

Wow this 120 is so easy to hover and control compared to my Shogun! I was out hovering and flying around even with 15 mph wind gusts. Yes I am impressed. What a nice machine to fly and own.

I have an even older one, the LHM 100 converted. Never did get much time on the glow version as I was constantly beating the engine into submission. A Himax HC 3510 1100 made it a joy to fly. A pair of TP 1320s strapped to either side of the front fuse for fuel tanks. 18 min. run time. Draws 9 amps at lift off. Did away with the Mickey Mouse mechanical gyro on the tail and put in a cheap GWS gyro that works great. Put it in the trees, side of the van, upside down, the whole bit and it just comes back for more. I believe the capability of the fold up blades saves a lot of damage. I stuck with the shaft drive as I think it's more durable. I,ve had blade, tailboom strikes that bent the boom 15 degrees and kept on going. Belt drive couldn't handle that.Dense Foam rubber on the side helps.

Im unbelievably happy with my new Corona 120!

She hovers fairly easy, nearly as easy as the simulators on my PC. The way it looks, handles and sounds, really give me the impression that "im not flying a toy anymore", unlike those Dragonfly #4 and Lama v2 (as shown on pic above) things im used to flying.

Heres some videos of my corona:

-

But im wondering, whats a hopped up brushless corona supposed to weigh? Mine seems a little overweight, according to the manual. The manual states 44oz. (1250gr.) for a stock one with brushed motor and 7s pack, but mine is doing 49oz. (1490gr.)

My setup:
Motor: Astro 020 Corona - Ribbed version (for her pleasure? ).
ESC: Schulze Future 18-46K.
Batt: 7s 2400mAh Sanyo NiCD.
Servos: 2x Robbe FS500, 1x Hitec HS-81MG.
Gyro Futaba GY401
Extras:
- Ultimate BEC.
- Chopper-1 Titanium Tailboom.
- Chopper-1 Tail Gearbox.
- Chopper-1 Tail Fin.
- Chopper-1 Tailboom Mount.
- Carbon horizontal Tailfin.
- JR Landing Skid.
- A bunch of ferrite filter rings.

What do you guys think? To heavy?

If the helicopter flies well, more weight will only help you, not hurt you. You can always lighten it up, but it'll make the helicopter just that much more unstable. Weigh increases the overall headspeed and mass of the bird making it more stable in flight. Usually, weight on fixed pitch helicopters is a good thing (aslong as your motor is powerful enough). On a side note, i'm not sure if the pitch of the corona main blades is adjustable. If they are, you could also increase stability by reducing the ammount of pitch in them.

Your corona looks really, really nice. I really dig the canopy. That must be a custom dealie? Looks alot cooler than the stock corona one. Also glad to see you replaced the ugly wire skids with some proper ones!

From your second video I note you've got the antenna wire hanging out the bottom of the helicopter. That's a bad idea, even if you're only testing. It only takes a quick updraft to send the wire into the main gear and shred it, and the receiver, to bits. Believe me, I know from experience .

Hmm, I thought I was being smart by diverting the antenna away from the heck rotor... But getting chewed up by the maingear isnt a treat eighter. Ill think of something, maybe a longer straw on one of the skids.

But the main point of the overweight issue was that I didnt want to overload the rather small looking astro 020 motor. You think she can handle such a heavy bird? The blades are indeed adjustable, im currently running a 4dot grip on both blades instead of the stock 6dot on one 4 dot on the other, so headspead is already up a bit.

The canopy is actually the stock one, but I skipped the "toyish" decalls and made the cockpit windows out of carbonlook stickering. Gives a nice clean look to it, along with the odd silver looking titanium tail. The wire skids are just asking for a mad bending, so I just skipped that experience and bolted on a better looking "real" one.
