Hi, Laurenne. This is from "down under". Through RC Universe.com, and your forum, I now know who the Australian agent (retail) is. I intend to purchase an RCV 60 SP to place in a Blohm and Voss 237 asymetrical aircraft, span of about 80 inch. (An SP so no cylinder head shows through the cowl). Have read some of the posts on your forum. Been modelling about 50 years, know about fuel, props, cooling etc. Questions; (1) The starter adapter and mounting plate have to be ordered separately when ordering the motor? (2) A muffler is included with the motor? Have been concentrating on "diesels", including glo conversions up to 15 cc, the past few years. I like the concept/design of the RCV, so am about to take the plunge. Regards Glen

Hi Glen

Thanks for your post, I am pleased to hear you are considering a 60SP for your next model. This is a fasinating looking aircraft and I would love to receive photos when you have finished.

In answer to your question, the muffler and mounting plate is included as standard with your RCV60SP. The starting adapter currently has to be ordered separately.

I hope this helps and look forward to hear how you get on.

Best regards
Laurenne Mansbridge

Laurenne, many thanks for your reply. Will send photos but will be some time in the distant future. Took me 3 months to just apply the colour trim on my last model. I'm a bit of an old fuss-pot. Kind regards glen

Hi Laurenne,
I have your RCV60sp!
Can I start it the conventional way with the spinner? Or would I damage something inside the motor??
The hex adapter keeps falling out of my starter cone and it's damaging my plane??
I've tried different cone diameters and all do the same thing, it does not stay in place.
Thank you

Hi

Thank you for your post. From what you have described, it does not sound like you have followed the starting adapter instructions. Please make sure you remove the cone and fit the adapter as per the instructions. To answer your question you can start the 60SP the conventional way it will not damage the engine, however we do not recommend this for safety reasons.

Thank you and kind regards

Stephanie

The thing is, until you get it broke in, starting it from the starter bolt is the best option.
Here is a video of a guy starting his from the front RVC 90 SP
