I got tired of trying to make my Blade CP fly. Spent more time rebuilding it than flying it. I replaced it with a 22e about 2 weeks ago. Wish I had got the 22e to begin with. Flew good out of the box. Went through and tightened everything and adjusted the blades a bit. It flies very well now. Better than the CP ever did. I am still a beginner and can fly a Honeybee fixed pitch and several of the coaxial helos I have with no problems now.

I like the 22e. I wanted another tail motor helo and couldn't decide between the Night Ranger ofr 22e. After I found out and was told by so many of you guys that the Night Ranger and 22e are twins, I opted for the 22e and got it on EBAY for $97 brand new from RC and Me. Those El Paso Texas boys are great. I gave $219 for the Blade Cp. The Night Ranger goes for $219 too. I have also flown all the different CP blades I have on the 22e and it still flies well. (the unbreakable JCS blades work very well also)

I have gone through about 20 battery charges now (stock nmh) and it flies better each time as I get used to it.

I do not want to hear any Walkera bashing or any other brand bashing if you have never had one of those brands. Yes I would like to have one of those high dollar T Rex's or such, but I am learning, I will crash, I expect to crash. On a total destruction for $97 I can have a NEW replacement if I need to. The 22e was $121 delivered to the door with a few replacement parts included.

I got the Walkera 36 as something I want to graduate to some day. But with 50-60-mph winds lately I have to settle for in the house, which I can fly the honeybee and smaller ones, or the garage for hover practice. The 22e is fine, only have tried it in idle up mode twice. No problems there either. The 36 is still scary to me for close quarter hovering, but it does hover fine in a 10 foot square space.

For flying around in the house I like my Lama and Blade CX equally. I have hours on both of them. I put the aluminum head on the CX and a aluminum head for the CX on the esky happy baby. Its just a set of landing skids with 2 motors and blades. Its fun also. It was about $70 on Ebay.

I still think the fixed pitch Honeybee is a great first helo for outside.

do you mean to tell me that those jcs plasti blades fit on the stock 22e blade grips and flies well with them??!!??!!!

Bubba,

I have yet to lay eyes on a 22E. If it is, as many have said, identical or close to identical to the Venom Night Ranger 3D, I agree with you, it will fly circles around a Blade CP.

I Liked the 22e so much I bought the company ......... Well I bought two from a supplier on ebay along with a 36 and when i informed him the second 22e was shipped with a broken skid and missing allen screw in the head and loose parts he sent me a free 3rd 22e so I now have three and after some tinkering they have all been airborn with No major problems except the 2nd one where I forgot to remove the blades and check the holders were tight and when I spooled it up the blade and holder detached and the head exploded !!!
Luckily it all went back together with the exception of a damaged foamy :-)

Ooooooops...

Sorry its been so long between posts, havent been in here in a while...

Lets see...

The ONLY difference between a 22e and a Venom Ranger 3d is the color and decals. Thats it! I have parts with both the Walkera and Venom labels on them. NO DIFFERENCE....

Yes the Blade CP blades works on the 22e. The chord is wider and the head is a tad thicker but I have not had a problem. Im still learning myself... but the blades didnt seem to make nay difference except you get a little mor lift at lower RPM, but I would assume at a cost in battery time.

I wish I dould find a CNC head for it. I break things just trying to fine tune it. (Old fumbling fingers)....

I am waiting on a new head rocker. tried to fly it without bell hiller set up and it didnt like it. So I have new parts coming from RC and Me.
Those El Paso guys are good about getting you stuff.

I paid $97 for the 22e on thier ebay site.

Dont get me wrong about the Blade CP. I just got tired of working on it. I got over 30 full battery flights hoovering and doing the back and forth stuff inside a very large building. I was NEVER able to do that with he CP. The part that got broke, I BROKE it trying to remove a link from a ball. I need the link/ball pliers because of my LARGE fumbling fingers I guess. But I do not know where to get a pair.

I have a Henoeybee 2 fixed pitch that is also a pleasure to fly and Idont know how many fights I have on it. I have 8 nmh batteries that will work on it and I have gone through all of them in a single flying session dozens of times so far.

Someday I hope I will be able to actually fly one of these things. At least Ican go longer between bad crashes now. But it is nice to be able to go complete battery charges and not crash or have a hard landing. Its true... practice, practice, practice.

I do not believe the thoery about lots of practice on your FMS simulator helps that much. I can fly the dragonfly sim inverted, around land, take off, and not crash. The sim is way too easy, even with advanced variables going.

ANyway....

My Walkera 36 hoovers yell and is also stable. But I am not ready for it yet.

I am also looking at the 22E and noticed you can get it for a good price on E-bay. My question is, is this heli good for a newbie heli pilot? I do plenty of nitro rc cars and have some plane experience along with good mechanical/building skills. Would this be a good starter helicopter? Also, is this something you can fly in a large backyard in calm weather or even indoors in a large room? Many thanks for your help and input

I'm a brand spanking new heli pilot, and although I've had some minor glitches with it (had to resolder a servo wire) it's been a good bird. Try and follow RADDS rotary school and you'll be better off for it. I had three crashes in mine at first, but now I've gone through about 7 battery charges without incident since following the lessons.

Most definitely something you can fly in your backyard and indoors once you gain good control, and you get a good bang for your buck.

The 22E RC helicopter is not bad for its low price. But the quality of the Walkera electronics is not as good as the Blade CP or ESky. So it is very important to pay attention on the temperatue of the electronics (You can refer to this reference guide).

I agree with Deflyer
the walkera electronics are notorious for failure....but I wish their airframes had an equal but opposite reputation. I had a 35 loved it! Heard that the 22e was the same as the NR3d but better....so I picked one up...IT IS AWESOME! I'm using my own electronics, but the airframe is so stable! I have an old century 4200kv lightning brushless motor originally designed for the hummingbird in it...the headspeed is crazy!

I'm aslo using a cirrus micro gyro..not a big fan of piezo rates...since I'm spoiled with HH, but I plan on throwing in an align hh soon!

I to bought from rcandme.....his shipping is fast and his CS is great...2 things that will keep him in business!

The 4n1's from esky/eflite are notorius for burning up quickly also. Just go to any heli forum and you will see.

I don't know why people keep saying esky/eflite electronics are better when both walkera and esky/eflite electronics are manufactured by the same company Zen Hua in China. Whats funny is I never had a glitch with my 22E-Z, but had glitches all the time with my esky HB CP2

I just bought a 22E off eBay for the equivalent of $107, took it out of the box and hovered it in the garage. Too little room to do anything else. Outstandingly presented......wiring etc. well laid out, I checked the blades for balance and CoG and were as near perfect as it gets and unless something breaks it is fantastic. It just flies right.
Has anyone hooked up the main battery to a 12v charger? I want to use my own delta peak charger but haven't gotten round to cutting wiring yet.

they have a weird 2nd positive wire...I forgot the term, but you can't charge it on a normal charger as is...you have to rewire the pack....I fried one trying

I noticed the two reds. I assumed the two reds were common - with one used for the incoming charge and the other for the outgoing current to the motor, black remaining -ve in both situations. The wall charger delivers 20volts! I was going to hook up to the red and black that the wall charger inputs to. If you fried one did you take it apart to see the wiring?

I have connected my GWS charger to the NiMh motor battery pack using an old JR servo lead. I have charged it twice now and it works a treat. The wall charger has got to be cruel to these NiMh batteries as it pumps out the volts relentlessly. Also, I can dial in whatever charge I like (below 1C) to be even kinder to the battery.

Something worth pointing out is that the manual for the 22E is really well written (in terms of grammar as well as instructions) - most of the instructions I have had recently for other helis have been almost impossible to understand cos they are in pigeon English. For example it says not to use it on carpet as the carpet will catch the skids - may sound like not much but it is all in the phrasing. Anyway, my point is this - it names the heli as the VNR3D!!!!!!!

And finally, in answer to this - as a flyer I can tell you this came out of the box and I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. No messing, almost straight to the hover. It might be a bit of a handful for a newbie so you would want a training UC for sure but it will bog the bird down somewhat. In short, if you you are wondering whether to start with one of these and must go for a "smaller" bird to learn with then, in my experience, you could do very much worse.

good to know about the batteries...I think it works with an adapter like you made, but if you try to resolder a new plug and screw up the weird dual positive leads (which I probably did) you could ruin the battery.

btw I picked up another df22e used.
the head was damaged but the guy gave me enough parts to fix it. I put on the normal head...not the bell hiller. The normal head is much more sluggish which may be better for an new pilot.

im newbie,is there anyone here can tell me wat is the default setting for the PIT & PLT cause i mis set it while i unlock the 8 key at the back of the transmitter..im having problem to lift off my heli from day 1 until now n it already crashed twice for 3 times fling..hope there is somebody can help me out on my problem...thx
p/s:it is better if there is somebody can post their tranmitter setting photo over here cause i really don hv any knowledge about the so called how many degrees to set or watever...i will be very appreciate for the help..

I am juggling between a 22e, BCP, BCP Pro, Honey Bee CP2, or Century Hummingbird Elite 3D. Sounds like the 22E may be better. One thing about this ready to fly out of the box stuff, I think they are all lying about that. The boxes are too small and the rotor does not have room to spin inside it. You have to take it out, straighten the blades and turn it up on the skids or it may burn the motor up.

i think everyone misses the "Cut Here" dashed lines on both sides of the box that are meant to allow the blades to spin freely. These n00bs, what can you do
